Thomas CONNOLLY Obituary

CONNOLLY, Thomas J. Jr. Age 73, of Whitman, MA, passed away suddenly on February 2, 2023. Tom was born in Boston, MA, in 1949 to the late Regina and Thomas J. Connolly, Sr.

He grew up in West Roxbury and was in the first graduating class from Xaverian Brothers High School in 1967. Tom was a proud U.S. Army Veteran, drafted in 1968 and served a total of 18 months in Vietnam. He was honorably discharged in 1971. Upon his return, he worked at General Motors in Westwood, MA for 41 years and was a member of UAW local 422.

Tom is survived by his wife of 43 years, Jean (Hernon) Connolly of Whitman (formerly of Dorchester); his children, Daniel Connolly and his fiancée Mollee McCabe of Hanson, Andrea Kowalski and her husband Daniel of Scituate, and Meghan Dunnigan and her husband, Mark of Charlestown; his grandchildren, Benjamin and Maggie and many cherished nieces and nephews. Tom was the brother of Matthew, Michael, Peter, Marianne and her husband, Declan Kelly.

Tom enjoyed photography, woodworking, and helping anybody with any project they might have. He had a tool for everything, somewhere. His family knew he could fix anything, but if he was stumped, he could always call on his friends, Leo Daley and Eddie Webb for help.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend Funeral Services on Tuesday, February 7, at 10:30 AM at Holy Ghost Church in Whitman. Burial will immediately follow at St. James Cemetery. Visiting Hours will be held Monday, February 6, from 4-7 PM at Blanchards Funeral Chapel in WHITMAN. In lieu of flowers, his family requests donations may be made to South Shore Veterans Assistance (PO Box 564 Whitman, MA 0238).
