Bill was my Uncle by marriage to my mother's sister Gladys.
My mother Stella had tried to keep in touch with the Wertz's afrer Gladys died but she got early onset Alzheimers (late 1970's) and she died in 1986. After Stella was not competent any longer no one else in the family took her place as a family leader.
Then, life gets away from us and here we are all these years later. Though Gladys and Bill had some tough times her heart disease contributed to their situation. I do remember Bill fondly and all my boy cousins. I'm the same age as Bill Jr. (Or as I knew him, - ("Butchie"). Sandy, Stella always spoke very highly of you. I'm sorry we have all lost touch but I wish all of you only good things and much love.

Mr. Wertz,
Sir, as a fellow Marine I would just like to say thank you for your service and sacrifice for our Country when you served in the USMC during WW II. It was the history and accomplishments made by you and your fellow Marines during the War that all of Marines who followed in your footsteps have always tried to live up to. And to your family and loved ones, I wish to extend my deepest sympathy.

Sandy and Family
We are very sorry to hear about Bill. He fought a hard fight (as well as Sandy). He kept to himself but when we did see him he was lots of fun. I'm sure he was very comforted knowing Sandy and the boys took great care of him in the last days.

Dear Sandy and Family,
I was so sorry to hear about Bill's
passing. Though I haven't seen him
in many years, it seems like only
yesterday that I used to talk to him
at Waverly Apts. He was such
a nice man.
Please hold all of your fondest
memories close to your heart and
they will help you get through the
rough times ahead.
You are in my thoughts and
prayers.
Love, Karen Charlebois-Clark

Hi Sandy and Family-
I just read about Bill in the Newspaper and I am very, very sad that he has passed.
I hope you are all doing okay. Although I did not see you and Bill much, it was always a pleasure when I did. I will miss him greatly.
Love,
Lynn (Derby) Collins
