Peter Dolan Obituary
Peter was a graduate of Boston State College and received his Masters degree from Boston University. He dedicated his life to service. This is highlighted by his 22-year career with the Massachusetts State Police, retiring as a Lieutenant. After his police service, he moved to Boston Edison and the investigative division for 17 years. In addition, he honorably served in the US Army National Guard for 34 years, retiring as a CW4.
Due to Covid-19, funeral services will be private to protect the health of everyone who knew Peter. A private burial with full military honors will be held at St. Joseph's Cemetery in West Roxbury.
In lieu of flowers, the family respectfully requests that a donation in Peter's memory be made to the Scandinavian Communities (www.scandinaviancommunities.com) 1811 Broad Street, Cranston RI 02905. Hi Paula, PJ and Lisa, Just thought I would let you know thinking of you and Peter. I wanted to let you know that the work your husband/father did at the State Police in the area of forensics continues to have an impact. In 2002 I reworked a case Peter did in Bedford Ma. He recovered a fingerprint in a Homicide in 1971. In 2002, We searched the state AFIS but did not identify anyone. We then searched the FBI and got a hit. Detectives talked with suspect but he was never charged him because all we had was a fingerprint at that time. Last year Middlesex Da officer re-worked the case and found two people who have testified in grand jury that the individual told them he committed the crime. They are still gathering evidence to charge him, but could be the oldest homicide ever prosecuted in Ma.

I remember Peter well.
I grew up on Brier rd and always played on Maplewood when we were younger. I grew up with the Mulroys and Phalans.

As an accomplished Army warrant officer, Peter was very unique in his military service to the United States and Massachusetts. We hope that the memories of Peter will get you through these sad times. I was fortunate to know and serve with Peter for a great many years. He was always the cool, level-headed guy - quick with a smile and mischievous wink. I only saw him blow up once in my 14 years of serving with him. Quite unusual for an Irishman and cop and a soldier. He was always there with an outstretched hand if you fell down or patted you on the back or say a kind word if you needed it. He mentored. He taught. He helped you grow as a soldier. He was someone you never wanted to disappoint or let down.
Our lives touched outside of the service. He took more and better photographs of my wedding than our hired photographer. I came to find out he and his family only lived a few streets over from my grandparent’s house. And one afternoon over lunch, I found out that my insurance agent at the time was his daughter Lisa. He was just as surprised and I’ll always remember him saying, “What a small world!” and just a little more menacing, “Stay away from my daughter.”
How do try to encapsulate a man’s life in just a few short words or sentences? You can’t. He was just the epitome of a GOOD GUY and he will be sorely missed.
Our deepest sympathies and condolences to the Dolan family. Peter will be sorely missed.

Pete was the best of the best. A true gentleman & a true adventurer. Flying airplanes, driving boats and restoring classic cars. He LOVED life and everything that came with it whether good or bad. He was the very best and will be truly missed by everyone he came to know. We love you, Pete. Until we meet again, Cheers!!!!

To lose Peter during the virus is a double negative. Not only do We not get to just talk about what a great guy he was and he say how much will miss him but not to be able to get together with all the Dolan’s and try to comfort them and assure them that Peter was much loved and how The days of the week or funeral and burial and I get together was so meaningful to everybody much we enjoyed his company. The virus has deprived us of the wakes the masses and the burials they brought us Close to Peter‘s family and each other and seem to make Peters departure more bearable
