Anna Roof Obituary
She was born Dec. 20, 1927, in Ridgway, daughter of the late Pietro J. and Mary Ruberto Paolello Sr. She married George F. Roof on June 4, 1949; he preceded her in death on Nov. 20, 1995.
She was a graduate of St. Leo High School. She had been employed by the Elk County Country Club and the Ridgway Elks Club for 35 years, where she was famous for her Wednesday night spaghetti and meatballs and Friday night fish fries. She was the last surviving member of her immediate family.
Anna resided in Ridgway all of her life and was a member of St. Leo Catholic Church. She was the first female member of the Ridgway Elks Club. She enjoyed spending time with her family, loved to cook, enjoyed reading the newspaper and doing crossword puzzles, going to church, babysitting her great-grandchildren and was an animal lover.
Anna is survived by one son, Thomas C. (Marlene) Roof of Olean, N.Y.; a daughter-in-law, Frances A. Roof of Ridgway; four grandchildren, Megan (Michael), Brittany (Josh), Johnese (John) and Sarah; three great-grandchildren, Vernon "Buddy", Anna and Sloane; and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; one son, The Honorable Vernon D. "Buddy" Roof; four sisters, Josephine DeAngelo, Jane Cinquanto, Lucille Gabowski and Virginia Eckert; and three brothers, Michael Paolello, Clarence Paolello and Pietro J. Paolello Jr.
A Mass of Christian Burial for Anna M. Roof will be celebrated at St. Leo Catholic Church at 11 a.m. on Thursday, June 9, 2022 with the Rev. Justin P. Pino, Pastor of St. Leo Catholic Church, officiating. Burial will be at St. Leo Cemetery. There will be no visitation.
Memorials, if desired, can be made to the Vernon D. "Buddy" Roof Memorial Scholarship Fund with the Elk County Community Foundation, 32 S. St. Marys Street, St. Marys, PA. 15857. Funeral arrangements are under the direction of the Thompson Funeral Home.
