Henry Plowman Obituary

Henry Scott Plowman, 44, of 172 Elm St., Bradford, passed away Wednesday (Jan. 22, 2014) at Bradford Regional Medical Center.
Born Feb. 17, 1969, in Greensburg, he was a son of the late Henry John Plowman and Linda R. (Stough) Plowman, who survives.
He attended Derry schools and completed his professional firefighter training at the Firefighter Academy in Maryland in 1992.
He worked in Bladensburg, Montgomery County, and Rockville Fire Department in Maryland. He was a paid firefighter for companies in South Conway, S.C., and Washington, D.C., for 10 years with Engine Companies 1, 16, and 32, and he was a first responder at the 911 attack on the Pentagon. He also worked for a private fire fighting firm in Iraq for a year and then for the City of Bradford Fire Department for the last five years.
He was a member of St. Joseph's Roman Catholic Church in Derry, the Derry Rod and Gun Club, the Eagle's Club in Bradford and the VFW in Austin.
He was an avid gardener with awesome gardens. He loved the outdoors so that he could hunt or fish every season of the year. And he enjoyed many sports including baseball, hockey, football, golf and snow skiing.
He was on the ski patrol at Seven Springs Resort, and in his earlier days, he was a guide in Colorado.
He was a die hard Steeler and Penguins fan as well as enjoying his "Coors." He also enjoyed his cats.
He lived his life to the fullest every day and truly enjoyed going to work as a firefighter as he loved his job and his brother firefighters through his career.
In addition to his mother, Linda of Millwood, he is survived by a sister, Rhonda (Ron) Charles, of Sylvania, Ohio; one brother, Robert Von Plowman of Friday Harbor, Wash.; his fiancee, Helen Bogenschutz of Bradford; an adopted stepbrother, Tim Gump of Derry; four nieces, Kristin, Jessica, Allison and Ashley, all of Ohio; two great-nephews, Tyson and Levi; one great niece, Valencia; one great-niece on the way, Leah; and one cousin, Craig Sell of Millwood.
He was preceded in death by his father and one niece, Megan.
Family will receive friends from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. Wednesday in the Hollenbeck-Cahill Funeral Homes Inc., 372 E. Main St., Bradford. Friends are also invited to attend a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. Thursday in St. Bernard Church, with the Rev. Raymond Gramata, pastor, as Celebrant.
Burial will be in Hillview Cemetery in Greensburg.
In lieu of flowers the family requests contributions be made to the Bradford City Fire Department.
Funeral arrangements are under the direction of the Hollenbeck-Cahill Funeral Homes Inc.
