Marlene Golab

1936 - 2023

ERIE - Marlene Mary Jaeger Golab, 87, of Erie passed away Tuesday (Oct. 24, 2023) at her residence, surrounded by family.
She was born May 10, 1936, in Cleveland and moved to Bradford when she was about 2 years old. Marlene attended St. Bernard grade school and high school and graduated from Villa Maria College at the motherhouse of Sisters of Saint Joseph.
Marlene worked as a substitute teacher at Gridley School in Erie. When she went to work at Woolworth, she met her future husband. Marlene worked as an aide at Saint Patrick grade school and Red Barn. She retired after 43 years as a manager at McDonald's. Marlene enjoyed sewing, crocheting and watching her children and grandchildren have fun at family gatherings.
Marlene is survived by her sister, Kathy Jaeger (Richard Rullman); her children, Mary Golab (Ed Halpern), Bernard Golab Jr. (Lisa Shorts), Dorothy Golab and Joseph Golab (Fran); her grandson, Zachariah Golab, who knew his grandma like a second mother; a cousin-in-law, Tom Golab, who was her rock; nine grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren; and longtime friends from Bradford, Joyce and Fran Corionia, and Rosie and Dick Kidd from Erie.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Bernard Golab Sr.; her parents, Bertha (Wilson) and Norbert Jaeger; her mother-in-law, Stella Golab; and two granddaughters, Miracle and Elizabeth Golab.
Friends are invited to call on the family 1 to 5 p.m. Sunday (Oct. 29, 2023) at Burton Quinn Scott Cremation & Funeral Service Inc. Downtown, 602 W. 10th St. Prayers will be held at 9:30 a.m. Monday at the funeral home, followed by a funeral Mass at 10 a.m. at St. Patrick Catholic Church. Burial will follow in Calvary Cemetery.
