Sophia Farynick Obituary
Born Jan. 30, 1923, in Bradford, she was a daughter of the late Socrates and Mary Hanson Tsepelis. On Feb. 24, 1945, at the Asbury United Methodist Church in Bradford, she married Marco Farynick, who died on May 6, 2016.
She was a 1940 graduate of Bradford High School. She was a homemaker and enjoyed cooking and gardening, but most important was spending time with her family.
Surviving is one daughter, Christine (Carl) McCracken of Derrick City; a sister, Mary Jane Gigliotti of Bradford; a brother, Socrates "Sam" (Patty) Tsepelis of Bradford; seven grandchildren, Carl "Chip" (Marsha) McCracken, Chris (Beverly) McCracken, and Cory (Jamie Pabon) McCracken, Katie Schlabach, Molly (Kenny) Gabbard, Jess Schlabach, and Bridgette Schlabach; five great-grandchildren; seven great-great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; a daughter, Denise Schlabach, who died July 14, 2016; and two brothers, George Tsepelis and James Tespelis.
Family will be receiving friends from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Tuesday in the Hollenbeck-Cahill Funeral Homes Inc., East Main Street, where funeral and committal services will be held at 1 p.m. with the Rev. Matt Blake officiating. Burial will be in McKean Memorial Park, Lafayette.
Memorials, if desired, may be made to the Bradford Manor Activities Fund; or a charity of the donor's choice.
