My deepest condolences in the passing of Ed. My thoughts and Prayers are with each of you as you pass through this most deep valley of life.

What a wonderful example of compassion, caring, love and entrepreneurship he was to all of us. Lord knows too many of my family that he helped to bury and care for needs and sorrow with unmatchable compassion.

What a great friend Ed was to my father for over 40 years. Before, during, and after my Dad's passing, Ed was always there. I will fondly remember him spending many hours in my family livingroom. A great man with unlimited values.

Another Town Icon has passed. I did not know Mr. Hurley but my Mother Barbara McAlister who was a RN Nurse knew him well. Mr. Hurley provided our family with service and compassion at the deaths of my Grandparents and my Father, years ago. As a young man I was sitting in Mr. Hurley’s office with my Mother going over the final deposition of my Grandmothers remains in March 1972. Mr. Hurley excused himself for a moment, leaving the room. Next thing I know he walked through the adjoining parlor in plain clothes and disappeared. I said to my mother, “how did Mr. Hurley change out of his suit clothes so fast and why?” My mother, who had to my surprise no reaction to this event, chuckled a bit and replied “that is his twin brother, Mr. Tom Hurley”.

I never forgot that or the kindness bestowed upon us by Mr. Ed Hurley.

My condolences to all of the family!

Dennis McAlister
