Jason Doubleday Obituary

DUMMERSTON -- Services for Jason G. Doubleday were held Thursday at 11 a.m. at the Community Bible Church on Atwood Street in Brattleboro, led by Pastor Neil Stetson and accompanied by Mary Mewes on the piano.

The church was filled to capacity and they began with a reading from Hebrews 4: 12-16, and then the congregation joined together to sing “How Great Thou Art.”

Herbert Mewes read from John 14: 1-14, Wayne Stires followed with a special musical selection, “Find Us Faithful.” Mewes then read again from 1 Corinthians 15: 33-58. Pastor Stetson read the eulogy and invited people to share their memories.

The congregation then joined in singing “Great Is Thy Faithfulness” followed by many more friends and relatives sharing their memories. Everyone joined in the singing of “In The Garden” and Pastor Stetson read to them the message “What Is, Is,” then everyone joined together in prayer.

The final hymn, “Redeemed,” was sang and the pastor gave his benediction.

Following the service, interment was held at the Doubleday Cemetery on Rice Farm Road in Dummerston, after which people were invited to a reception at The Crosby House on Western Avenue in Brattleboro for a time of fellowship and refreshments.

Pallbearers for Mr. Doubleday were Joshua and Peter Doubleday, Thomas and Paul Kuralt, Brian Shuey and Wayne Stires.

Mr. Doubleday, 91, of Rice Farm Road in Dummerston, died on Oct. 21, 2006, at Brattleboro Memorial Hospital from complications resulting from an accident while riding his ATV in the woods near his home.

Arrangements were under the direction of KER-WESTERLUND FUNERAL HOME.u

To the family of Jason Doubleday and most especially Peter I send my condolences. Peter, I don't have clear memories of your Dad when we were growing up in Hampden but he sounds like a wonderful human being who will be greatly missed by all whose lives he touched.
My thoughts are with you today.

I am glad I was able to say I love you to him one more time. I ache for the whole family knowing and understanding your pain. He truly was a one of a kind. Please call me if you need anything.

Remarried at 81, cruising around the woods on his ATV at 91 -- sounds like he lived life to the fullest right to the very end... a lesson for us all. My condolences to those he leaves behind.
