John Holt Obituary
EDISON: John H. Holt, DDS, 89 years of age, passed away on Wednesday February 8, 2017 at Heartland of Marion. Dr. Holt was born Feb. 28, 1927 in Grafton, W.Virginia to the late James. C. and Altha (Knappenberger) Holt. He was married June 18, 1949 to Betty M. (Campbell) Holt who preceded him in death on Oct. 26, 1991. He was also preceded in death by daughters Laura Holt in 2007 and Janet in 1987.
John is survived by his companion of 23 years, "His Sweetie" Elaine Rice; grandchildren Ken Holt, Robert Cohen, David Bartholomew, John Holt IV, Philip Gilmore, and Steven Lepard as well as 2 great grandchildren Fionnuala and Alessia.
Dr. Holt was a graduate of the Univ. of Kentucky, Ohio Northern University, and the College of Dentistry at Ohio State University. John served in the U.S. Army from 1944 until 1946. He retired from the U.S. Public Health Service (Coast Guard) as a Dentist in 1981 attaining the rank of Colonel. He practiced in Bucyrus for two years. John was a former member of the Epworth U.M. Church in Bucyrus and attended Epworth United Methodist Church in Marion.
Funeral Services will be held on Saturday at 2:00 pm in the Munz-Pirnstill Funeral Home with Rev. David Hoffman officiating, burial will follow in Oakwood Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Friday from 5:00 pm until 7:00 pm. Memorials may be made to either Bucyrus U.M. Church or Epworth U.M. Church in Marion and expressions of sympathy can be left at munzpirnstill.com.

Still missing you, Grandpa! We had a cookout at Elaine's house over the weekend and shared memories with you. It was as if you were still sitting right there with us on the deck like you did less than 10 years ago. Your Grandsons & your Sweetie Elaine all still love you dearly.

We met John in Myrtle Beach some 10 years ago, as "SnowBirds" escaping the Canadian Winter. John was always a great person to hold conversation with, and we spent many hours chatting. If we were to list one of John's" likes" , it would be his love of oysters,he would always manage to find a restaurant somewhere, so that he could get them. Good bye John, you will be sorely missed RIP. Neville and Janet Clark. . Innisfil.Ontario.Canada.
