Raleigh Striker

SHELBY: Raleigh M Striker, age 66, resident of Shelby died Wednesday, August 28, 2013 at MedCentral Mansfield Hospital following a short illness.

Born July 19, 1947 in Bucyrus to Rolla and Shirley (Cole) Striker he had been a Morrow County resident the majority of his life moving to Shelby in 2003. A 1965 graduate of Bucyrus High School, he served in the US Army during the Vietnam Era. Raleigh was employed as a truck driver retiring in 2008.

Raleigh was a member of the Church of the Nazarene. An avid gardener and recycler he loved to entertain and play games. He also loved going out to breakfast and lunch with his VA buddies. A unique individual, he enjoyed doing for others and liked being busy. He was a loving husband who put everyone ahead of himself.

Survivors include his wife, Susan (Nye) (Pugh) Striker whom he wed May 2, 2010; two daughters, Renee (Attila) Nemeth of Westlake and Robin Striker of Mansfield; his step-children, Albrey (Chad) Rank of Crestline, Tony (Stephanie) Pugh of Urbana and Wendy Pugh (Laurie Moder) of Columbus; his grandchildren, Amari Stiker and Sophia Nemeth; step grandchildren, Andrew and Rachel Pugh; one sister, Elizabeth "Liz" Freeman of Bucyrus; two brothers, Christian Striker of Bucyrus and Dennis (Cindy) Striker of Mansfield; nieces, nephews and other relatives.

He was preceded in death by his parents; a wife, Diane (Caudill) Striker.

Memorial services will be held 11:00 AM Saturday, August 31, 2013 at the Church of the Nazarene with Reverend Lester Champer officiating. Friends may call at the church Saturday from 10:00 to 11:00 AM. Memorial expressions may be made to the Church of the Nazarene, 169 Mansfield Ave., Shelby, OH 44875. Barkdull Funeral Home in Shelby is assisting the Striker family with arrangements.
