Corey "C" David Cranston.

Age 56, died suddenly at his home in Burlington, VT, May 19, 2025. He is survived by his mother Sandra (Mark) Salzler; his father David (Glory Ann) Cranston; brothers Dave (Cheri) Cranston, and Tom Cranston; two nephews Caden and Jace Cranston; and six stepbrothers and sisters along with many aunts, uncles and cousins. Corey is also survived by his beloved friend, Suzanne Scannell, whom he loved dearly. As anyone who had the pleasure of working with or just knowing him can attest to, Corey's heart was as big as his smile. Through his years living in both WNY and Burlington, VT, Corey honed his skills as a musician, composer, and educator. Throughout the many bands that he played with and starred in (Excessive Behaviour and Zephrus to name a couple), he played hundreds of shows to thousands of people and released numerous CDs of his original music. He and his bandmates of Excessive Behaviour also had the distinct honor of then Buffalo Mayor Masiello declaring June 2, 1997 "Excessive Behaviour Day" for the City. A few years later, Corey began his teaching career at Bellcate School in Essex, VT in 2002. He was a teacher, case manager, and was instrumental on the sales team for Bellcate School Dog Treats. He loved teaching his students about Lake Champlain and cryptozoology. During his 20+ year tenure there, he also taught countless students how to play the guitar, as well as tennis and ping pong. One of the school's co-founders and dear friend of his, Jesse Bell, said this in regard to Corey's time at Bellcate: "C" was a valued member of our school community for 23 years, and touched the lives of countless students, families, and staff during his long tenure at Bellcate School. He will be remembered for his dedication to teaching, his kindness, his love of music, and the positive impact he made in our school and beyond. He will be deeply missed."
