Donna Frost Obituary

May 18, 1957 – Feb. 22, 2019

Donna Lee Frost, who became a nurse at age 50, died Friday in her Cheektowaga home after a lengthy illness. She was 61.

Born in Buffalo, the only girl among five children, the former Donna Lee Zielkiewicz graduated with honors from Cheektowaga Central High School in 1975.

While working as a deli clerk in a B-Kwik market in 1973, she met Gary Frost, whom she married in 1978.

As a stay-at-home mother, she volunteered at her church and worked part-time as a grocery store cashier. She also became a certified step aerobics instructor with Sophisticated Lady.

In 2004, Mrs. Frost decided to pursue a nursing career and graduated with honors from Erie Community College in 2007, becoming a licensed practical nurse and registered nurse. She worked for several years in a subacute rehabilitation unit at Father Baker Manor in Orchard Park.

An avid Star Trek fan, she collected memorabilia from Star Trek conventions across the country.

A scholarship was established in her name to assist nursing students at Erie Community College.

In addition to her husband, survivors include two daughters, Amanda Frost Addesa and Meghan Rae Hage; two brothers, Dennis Zielkiewicz and Kenneth Zielkiewicz; and three grandchildren.

Services will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday in Lord of Life Lutheran Church, 1025 Borden Road, Cheektowaga.
