John SHIELDS Obituary
entered into rest suddenly on December 4, 2022. Beloved son of Doria Schlager-Gretzler (nee Cardarelli; Robert Gretzler) and Mark J. Shields. Loving grandson of Phyllis and the late John Cardarelli and the late James and Elizabeth Shields. Dear brother of Olivia (Matthew) Piegay, Mark J. Shields II, and Brittani (Andrew) Morrow. Adored godfather to Eliza and uncle to Arden and Ayla. Treasured nephew to his aunts and uncles. Loved by many cousins. Cherished friend to many. John will always be remembered as a charismatic and active young man with a passion for life and devotion to those he loved. Relatives and friends may visit Castiglia Funeral Home, 873 Abbott Road in Buffalo on Thursday from 2 - 8 PM. A Mass of Christian Burial will take place in Our Lady of Victory Basilica, 767 Ridge Road in Lackawanna on Friday at 9:15 AM. Please assemble at church. Flowers graciously declined. I worked in the cafeteria at Timon and remember John smiling and giving. E a hard time! He was kind and as I said, always smiling! I´m so very sorry for your loss.
