Greetings to the family and friends of John and Mary Lou. I have spent the last few weeks reflecting on the many memories that I have of John. He was my colleague and friend. He enjoyed people and was quite entertaining. I met Mary Lou and we hit it off immediately. Jeremy your dad beemed when he spoke of you. Jeremy and Alexis they were so proud of you. The wedding pictures that Mary Lou sent me depicted a couple embarking on new beginnings. I hope that you will find peace in your memories for they must be awesome. You are in my prayers and thoughts. I would love to stay in touch my email [email protected].

I never knew your parents but felt compelled to write you. I was traveling the route of their accident and felt overwhelmed at passing the many cars caught in the aftermath of their accident. I prayed, as I always do for those I pass who have been in an accident and I know that those prayers went straight to heaven. When I returned home I saw the write up and for some reason tonight I looked up their names and found these heartfelt sympathies. I was returning from visiting my son in Berkeley Heights and he had just moved from Cherry Hill, where we spent some great times and welcomed his new son. I grew up in the Buffalo area and Canisius was a huge rival--especially in college basketball. God is with you and I will always remember your parents in my prayers. F.R.O.G. Kathy ( Rochester NY)

You never really know how many people's lives you warmly touch! We met John and Mary Lou while watching our sons play baseball at Canisius HS...our son pitching and their son catching. They were very supportive and loyal fans. We remember them as being friendly and quick with a smile! May God give you strength, Jeremy, to face the days ahead.

The sentiments expressed in this guest book describe two wonderful individuals who cherished and celebrated life.
John and Mary Lou were who they were because of their unconditional love of each other, Jeremy and their families.
They spent their lives, sharing this love with so many, not in words but by actions.
John was my supervisor, for the past two years, while I was principal of the Oakbridge School, CSI,Inc. I will always remember him with admiration, appreciation and fondness.
With Sympathy,

My deepest sympathy on the loss of two very special people.
I worked with MaryLou only on a few occasions; however, I was very impressed by her considerate nature, professionalism and especially by her joy when she spoke of her son.
I will always remember her kindness, and I extend my condolences to both families at this very difficult time.

Jeremy,
The loss of your parents is a great loss to all our families. John was our cousin and although we haven't seen him in a few years it doesn't diminish the family ties we all have. The eulogy you gave was the greatest tribute you could have ever given your parents. They will always be with you, and you with them. Through you, Dee and Herb will always be proud.

My players go out to the Stein family. I had the pleasure of working for John at CSI - he was the best boss anyone could hope for. John had an amazing gift of makig everyone around him comfortable. I am blessed to have known him.

To the Stein Family:
I was so sad when I received Mary Jane's e-mail telling me of the loss of John (he'll always be "Johnny" to me) and Mary Lou.
I told Mary Jane that I will always fondly remember Johnny as her dashing oldest brother.
Please know that my thoughts, as well as those of my mother and sister, are with all of you at this most difficult time.

Deepest sympathies to the families. I worked as a temp for Mary for nearly a year and can honestly say she was the most compassionett, caring and professional person that I have ever worked for. There was not a question that she did not or could not find an honest answer for. It is so rare to find ginuwine people like that. This world is certainly without a star.

I had the pleasure of spending a week with John in Atlanta May, 2007. Our long end of day talks were great and we both really got to know each other. He shared so many stories with me, which I have shared with others and it brings us a smile on such an unfair tragedy. Not only was John a great story teller of HIS life , but he was a standup, guy of integrity. No words can convey my sympathy to John’s family. My family’s prayers to out to each and every one of you to help you bear your pain. John can finally walk the dog with the broken tail and not worry about those winters in Buffalo.

My deepest sympathies to both John and Mary Lou's families and to their
son Jeremy and his wife. I worked with John at CSI and came to know
what a wonderful and special person he was. I always knew that I would
be smiling and laughing whenever I was in John's presence. He brought
such terrific energy to Home-Based Services in the Youth Division of
CSI and I only wish I had been able to spend more time with him. I can
only imagine how hard this time must be for you but please know that
you are in my thoughts and prayers. John and Mary Lou will always be
watching over you and will be waiting until the time you are together
once again.

To the family of John and Mary Lou, You dont know me. My name is Buck Elbe. I happened to be there at the time of the accident. I cant seem to get off my mind the pain of the great loss the family must be going through. It sounds to me, from reading this guestbook, that they were two wonderful people. Having lost my wife of 26 years several years ago, I know how difficult it is going to be to get through these times. They say everything happens for a reason, which can be really hard to understand when someone gets taken so early in life. All you can think of is how they got jipped out of life. I know how you'll be told that time will help heal your pain. I didn't believe it myself for the longest time, but, believe me, it does. It sounds to me like they were two wonderful people who will be missed by many. I guess all we can do is hope God knows what He's doing. Somehow, not even knowing them, they have touched me in a way that I dont quite understand. My deepest sympathies to the family and everyone they touched.

I can't say that I knew John very well.In fact I haven't even seen John in probably forty years. I think we were in our teens the last time I saw him. He lived across the street from me when we were growing up in Cheektowaga. He was a few years older than me, and I used to hang out with his brothers. I remember playing Little League Baseball, and John played in Babe Ruth league for older boys. Watching him play I felt sort of proud that I knew him. I thank God that he let John be a part of my life. There is nothing I can say to take away the pain his family is feeling. I just want to say that my love and prayers go out to the families.

Dearest Jeremy:
I'm so very sorry for your tremendous loss. Yes, it will be very difficult, and many tears will flow. Allow yourself to grieve.
Time, and the many prayers you receive, WILL help heal some of the pain and sadness.
Remember that your parents will be right beside you, praying for your comfort - always. There will be days when you will feel their presence more, and will smile, or cry. That's ok. It happens Jeremy.
You're a fine young man. Stay good. Be well. Love that wife of yours. I will keep you in my prayers.

Marylou and John will be deeply missed, they are a great example of how to live life to the fulliest. My cousin and her husband were so family oriented that they would commute back and forth to buffalo for every possible occasion if possible. My memories of them will always be close to my heart. I know someday we will meet again. If Marylou and John could hear me now I want them to know that I love them, I enjoyed there company, they made me laugh and cry in good and happy times and my memories of all the great times we have had together will be treasured forever and always!

Uncle Chuck, Aunt Helen and Jeremy,
The pain you feel right now is so deep and unconceivably unbearable that facing tomorrow seems impossible. There are many uncertainties in this life, yet there are few eternal truths as powerful as God will bring you through this when you lean on Him and let Him bear your burdens; doing it in your own strength may seem futile, but turning it over to Him will change your heart from anger to contentment and grief to peace. I pray in Jesus' Holy Name that you and the entire Stein family is open to His mercy, His grace and His salvation in your time of loss and for eternity...
I love you,
Paulie, your sister Alice's Grandson

My deepest sympthay and prayers go to Marylou and John Stein's families. I only knew Marylou for 2 years and I have to say she is one of the best people that I have ever met.
I never met John, but it didn't stop him from trying to help me scout out Graduate schools for Counseling.
Marylou, not only gave me my first "real job" but she was always there to listen to my boring investing mistakes and gains...even when she wasn't interested. She would even allow me to play "financial advisor" to her, even though she already told me "I don't deal with that stuff, John does", and every month she always took home my Money and Kiplinger magazines to read even though, she never read them...she gave them to John.
This is something a great mother and person does...she excepted and embraced anything that you were passionate about.
She not only was my boss but a wonderful person. I never experienced lost before August 19, 2007.
I will always remember Marylou and I think I speak for alot of co-workers at BMS.
I hope we all can learn to love and appreciate life as Marylou and John did.
Also my deepest sympathy to Jeremy and Alexis

We are fortunate to have many happy memories of MaryLou and John....John as a consummate raconteur and MaryLou as a sweet and lovely woman; the two as a loving couple, proud parents and devoted family members. Thank you for the many kindnesses you have shown us and the good times we have shared.

My deepest sympathy to John and MaryLou's family. I worked with MaryLou at BMS in Buffalo. Both John and MaryLou became part of our extended family when we relocated to Connecticut. After the move, I recall fondly our dinner get togethers when we could all talk about Buffalo as well as our new experiences in CT while savouring a Sahlen's hot dog. They were truly a wonderful couple and they will be missed.

My deepest sympathies are extended to Jeremy and all of John and Marylou's family. Words can not express the sorrow I feel at this tragic loss. John was more than a colleague for the past two and a half years at Community Solutions. He was a friend. We often shared a good cigar, a glass of bourbon and talk of blues music. Just last week we spent a day in Baltimore together and as always I left our time together with a smile on my face due to John's great sense of humor. After the anger is gone; the heart-pain has diminished; and my sense of loss has somewhat ebbed; John and Marylou will remain with me in fond memories.

Our deepest sympathies go out to Jeremy and the Stein Family during this difficult time. John and Mary Lou moved to Connecticut at the same time that my family (Gorski’s) and I did – with the Bristol Myers relocation – and quickly we all became an extended family. They were a little piece of home to us right there in Connecticut. They were absolutely wonderful people who will be missed dearly.

John and I met through mutual friends...musicians, Social Workers and psychotherapists...in the early 1970s. It was a shock to learn today of his and Mary Lou's passing. John and I had not seen each other since we each headed to different parts of the U.S., but our mutual friend, Paul, has kept us connected. Jeremy,
I would like to express my deepest sympathies to you and all of your family. Some of my fondest memories in life revolve around those two springs in 1998 and 1999. Coaches, players, families all; we were a family connected by a school and a game. Your parents were some of our biggest supporters; I will never forget that.
