Kenneth BARNEY Obituary

BARNEY - Kenneth Alan

Was put to rest on April 24, 2020. He is survived by his wife Diane; his three children Kenny Jr., Kendra, and Kyler; his aunt Earlene; and a host of loving siblings, cousins, nieces, and nephews. Kenny worked as a Buffalo Police Officer for 35 years. To his friends and colleagues, he was known as "Officer Friendly". He made sure to remain fair and honorable in his decisions, and always treated everyone with respect. For the entirety of his career, he was a member of the Afro Police Association, where he met a number of amazing colleagues and even made life-long friends. Toward the end of his career, after he had served several decades patrolling the streets of Buffalo, he served as a Buffalo Community Police Officer. Finally, upon retirement he received a PBA Honor in 2016. Kenny had a passion for film photography and digital art. He was a distinguished photographer within his community, with an impressive portfolio of work. He always carried a camera with him, ready to capture life's most precious moments. He was also an avid supporter of Buffalo's local art scene, and attended several festivals and events in support of the city's artists. Kenny was an active member at Squeaky Wheel, Locus Street Arts, and CEPA Art Gallery. Kenny also kept up with the latest advances in technology. He absolutely loved Apple products as well as using the newest Adobe software. He became quite advanced in digital photo editing and knew how to navigate his way around any smartphone, tablet or computer. Kenny always kept his mind sharp by learning how to use these new products and programs. Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, his memorial service will be held at a later date. Until then, his family and friends are remembering and celebrating his incredible life.
