Timothy DWAN Obituary
Of Lancaster NY August 8, 2023. Beloved husband of Kathleen (Lucey); loving father of Megan (Jeffrey) Hewett and Michael Dwan; dearest grandfather of Molly and Ian Hewett and Theodore and Tallula Dwan; brother of late Mary Ann (William) Borla, Terry (Gaylon) Dwan, George (Rosie) Dwan, Claire (John) Wylie, also survived by nieces and nephews. Family will receive relatives and friends at the WENDEL & LOECHER INC., FUNERAL HOME, 27 Aurora St. Lancaster, NY Friday from 3-7 pm. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Mary of the Assumption Church, Lancaster, NY Saturday at 9:30 am. Please assemble at church. Tim was a decorated combat Veteran, distinguished lawyer, professor and Town Justice for 40 years. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to WNY Heroes. Tim was a great Town Justice, patriot, mentor and friend. But most of all, he was a great Democrat in old Kennedy way! I always enjoyed his enthusiasm for town politics when he was in his election cycle and the energy he would bring to the team. He accomplished much during his lifetime and leaves a legacy of service to his country, town, students and family behind him. Rest in peace, Tim. We will surely miss you!

I had Mr. Dwan as my college professor at ECC North in 1978 and 1979. He performed my marriage ceremony on August 11,1979. I just thought of him today, August 21 and looked him up. I am so sad to see that he has passed. He was my favorite teacher ever.

I just loved Tim Dawn. He was a fair and impartial judge for years. But, his best days were on the T-Ball diamond coaching with me. We had so much fun coaching those kids. He even represented me with the 14 year old T-Ball umpire who threw me out of the game anyway. LOL Only case Tim ever lost. LOL We've lost a really great guy, who loved his family friends, clients, etc, etc, etc. Rest in Peace Judicial Peace Tim. I'm sure the Lord has already given you the golden gavel in Heaven. Every Criminal Justice student at ECC wanted to be in Mr. Dwan´s classes. I met him there, worked with him many times while a police officer, and he did legal work for me personally. One of the finest most caring and professional people I´ve ever known..Always considered the officers point of view while on the bench. Godspeed, Mr. Dwan.

We roomed together for 4 great years He was my lawyer at the court marshall which he won. Tim never lost a campaign President of the class Tim and I discussed early if he ran for Govenor of Conn. he would win I met a young soldier[Mar 66] who was wounded while serving under Tim in Vietnam[1st Inf Div BIG RED ONE] I was at Walter Reed in Washington DC he said Tim was one of the best officiers in the Division a winner. Tim was and is a winner " Sic transit gloria mundi" Pat

My sincere sympathy to the Dwan family, friends and entire community who share in the loss of such a good guy! Met initially in the 70s as a student of his in criminal justice. Everyone wanted to take his classes because his truly caring, outgoing and funny personality made it easy to learn from him! Throughout both of our professional careers he could always be counted on to do the "right" thing and make unbiased decisions even if unpopular. We could always count on his integrity and support for law enforcement and justice. He was a great listener and always had a welcome ear. No matter how many years past, he made you feel so welcome and we were always happy to see each other. He will be surely missed by all who were blessed to have known and loved him.

To the Dwan family, my deep condolences for your loss. Tim was a role model, mentor and friend to me. I met him as a middle schooler when he was my CCD teacher at St. Mary´s. Years later he hired me as a court reporter at Lancaster Justice Court, wrote a letter of recommendation for my law school application, and was a huge influence on my decision to run for Municipal Court Judge in Sparks NV. I will always remember the conversation we had when I told him we were adopting a little boy. The influence he had on my life is beyond words. A great American, teacher, judge, friend, and human being. I am so blessed to have known him.

Judge Dwan was a friend of my recently late husband. They met years ago at the flea market and talked sports and baseball cards to their hearts content. He was always such a kind soul. My most sincere condolences to you all.

To the Dwan Family and the greater Lancaster Family ..... words really cannot express how Tim Dwan contributed to the quality of life in our community for so many years, nor can we adequately describe his contributions to countless criminal justice students in his role as professor and mentor at ECC.... but less public was his loving and sensitive mentoring of so very many young persons in need, police officers , and even a fair number of politicians!
I treasured our relationship during my time at the Town Police, and was so grateful for his leadership at ECC Criminal Justice Department....
And his guidance and dedication to young, aspiring swimming champions was nothing short of amazing.....
With each success, he would bend over and, in that famous "Irish whisper", say to me "We did good"
You did good, Tim........ we are blessed to have had you in our lives

Judge Dwan was my favorite. I was lucky to be one of his Assistant District Attorneys that served his court. He loved the law, and was very fair. Very kind person. Few people knew that he was one of the most decorated soldier from Western New York. A quiet humble man with a great smile. He was truly a man that I admired.
