Vito Joseph TETI

Vito TETI Obituary

TETI - Vito Joseph After a short battle with Lung Cancer, Vito went to heaven on April 28th 2015 with his three sisters at his bedside. Vito was born October 23rd 1943 in San Pedro California to Joseph and Sally Teti. He was the second of five Children. He grew up in Utica, Buffalo and Lancaster New York. He was always the caring big brother, watching out for his four sisters. In 1961 the family moved to Southern California. In his adult years he worked at a number of jobs that took him from Southern California to Hawaii and on to Alaska where he helped build the Alaska Pipeline. Moving back to Southern California he found himself in the moving and storage business. Later, starting with one truck, he eventually owned and operated a fleet of moving vans. After a long career in the moving and storage business he retired and joined the families growing vacation rental business in Palm Desert, CA. Vito was an accomplished drummer and always had his drumsticks somewhere close at hand. He loved to read, especially anything that had to do with the American Indian, when it came to Indian history and lore he was the expert. He loved horse racing and especially the Kentucky Derby. Over the years he perfected his Italian Meatballs and Sauce and it was always in demand at any family gathering. You can find a video of Vito making his meatballs at https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SIBdd4ikSvw or search for Uncle Vito's Meatballs by Don Presley. Vito was preceded in death by his parents and his youngest sister Marie. He is survived by his three sisters, Barbara Streeby, Ceil Berntsen and Diana Anderson, his five children, grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. Vito loved his family most of all and was a loyal friend to many. Vito, you helped so many during your short time here, it's now time for you to rest. We will love and miss you always...

Somehow a year has passed and it's still so hard each day without you and not being able to call you. I still have your voicemails that I can listen too and hear your voice. You are missed so much and recently we sent you another friend so I hope your both looking down. I try to talk out loud to you it helps release emotion and I hope you hear them. <3 I love you and miss you so much.... It's the kind of heartache you feel in your bones. I'm thankful for those who have stayed by my side and held my hand when I've been at my weakest and lowest and just needed support because each day without you is a struggle so I try to remain busy just like you. It's so hard not having you to talk too. I find happiness knowing your reunited with so many and also get to meet so many. I've avoided Elvis songs all year it's been so hard but I will do that today in your honor.

Missed calling you for Fathers Day. Each day passes into the next but yours are eternal and painless. Bringing comfort to those who miss and love you. But it is still hard.

I miss you so much..every day is hard I call you going into work, on my break, after work, in the evening and now I can't. You were the only person I could talk to when I was upset and you would help me get through the day.I feel like your on vacation and I'll hear from you soon. I hope you were excited to see we had a triple crown winner. I love you and miss you so much it hurts. I'm trying to keep myself busy so I don't cry because I know you wouldn't want that. I hope your keeping everyone up there busy with meatballs and stories and your no longer in pain. I love you Dad.

Vito, was my "blood brother". We shared a lot over the years. The fun we had on trips and playing cards and talking about American Indians and baseball and football. There isn't a day that goes by that I almost pick up the phone to call him and chat. You walk free of pain through the happy hunting grounds, until we meet again.

Vit,
So many recollections, seems like just yesterday that we were visiting.
You will be missed, so very much, and will forever live in our hearts
and prayers and memories.

I've known you since I was 8 yrs old when you began dating my sister Jan. Looking back you were a brave sole to even ask my dad. Through out the years you have stayed in our family through good times and bad. Will miss your smile and generous heart. You are not gone but have only moved to the second floor, where we too will join you there when our time comes. Halaluya!

You were my big brother and my friend. Its hard to imagine our family without you. Mom and Dad are smiling now that they have their "only boy" with them. I will miss you, especially your laugh. I love you and one day I'll see you again.
