MIKULA -Walter S. "Tough Guy" Of Lancaster, NY, September 22, 2009, beloved husband of the late Helen A. (Bednarski) Mikula; dearest father of Gerald J. (Bonnie), Kathleen Fox, Karen (Peter) Ziders, James P., (Julie), Jeffrey (Sue), Laurie (Leo) McGorry and Mark A. (Tammy) Mikula; fond grandfather of 18 grandchildren; brother of Edward (Mildred), Estelle (late Edward) Jasiczek, John (Lorraine), Dorothy (late Joseph) Fronczek and Theodore (Aggie) Mikula. Friends may call Wednesday 7-9 and Thursday 2-4 and 7-9 PM at the PAUL A. KLOC BLOSSOM CHAPELS INC., 4680 Clinton St. (corner Borden Rd.), West Seneca (668-5666), where funeral will be held Friday morning at 8:45 AM and from St. Gabriel's Church at 9:30 o'clock. Friends are invited. Sentiment may be expressed through a contribution to Hospice Buffalo Inc. in memory of Walter S. Mikula.

Dad I am just having a really bad day today and just need to write something. I miss you so much and wish you were still here. I know you are in a better place but it still doesn't make it any easier. I just hope you did not suffer on your last days. I go over and over everything that transpired in the 9 weeks that you were in the hospital and Hospice. It tears me apart to just remember how you were in that bed breathing your last breaths. I also remember that good week you had when you could actually watch TV and tell me that you loved me and held my hand. I am just missing you so much today and wish I had one more minute with you.

Mark,
I'm so sorry to hear about your parents. Your mom and dad were amazing people-always there for anything needed at the firehall even when they weren't feeling up to it. I remember all those nights of Bingo with my grandmother and your mom when I was little; working along side your dad when we were older. No matter what there was always a smile on their faces and laughter in the air. Just know that they are both at peace now and together. God bless...

One of my favorite memories of Uncle Wally is watching him walk with baby Mark (who was having a tough hour of fussing) and how comfortable and patient he was with it after years of practice with all you older kids.

My heart feels for you at the lost of your dad. I didn't get to spend much time w/him he seemed to be had at work or in the garage. I know he loved his family very much. To Walt's Family,

I had the great pleasure of knowing and working with your father for many years at Cable Guide Railing Co., Inc. He was one of the most dedicated employees that the company ever had.

We had many good conversations and they always included his family. He was a very proud father and grandfather.

He told me so many wonderful stories about his interest in airplanes and the fire company.

He was truly one of the greatest men I have ever known. It was an honor to have known Walt, Helene, his brothers and some of his children. He will be missed by all.
