Paula Delaine
LORAIN - Paula Delaine, (nee Austin), of Lorain, passed away June 26, 2013 at University Hospital in Cleveland, surrounded by her children, following a brief battle with illness.
Paula was born on November 24, 1951 in Elyria, to Arthur Austin and Lula Bell Coates. She was a graduate of Elyria High School and later in life attended and received certificates for Nurse's Aide and Culinary Arts. She enjoyed her career as a home health aide with Community Health Partners until she was unable to continue her career path. Paula accepted Christ at an early age and was a member of Cathedral Church of God in Christ under Bishop F.E. Perry of Cleveland. She enjoyed and loved her family and friends. She was helpful to people in need and always gave words of encouragement.
She leaves to cherish her memory two daughters, Antoinette and Carla Delaine of Lorain; sons, Samuel Delaine Jr. of Lorain, and Carl Delaine of Atlanta, Ga.; sister, Lula Belle Lewis of Lovejoy, Ga.; grandchildren Eddie Miller Jr., RaeShaun Smith, Angel, Brianna, Gabrielle, Jaelon, Anthony Delaine and Shavsha Jenkins all of Lorain; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and dear friends.
She was preceded in death by her eldest daughter Yolanda Austin; parents, Arthur Austin and Lula Bell Coates; Aunt Ethel Blackwell who cared for her upon the passing of both parents; brothers, Paul, James and Howard Austin and Tommy Coates.
Visitation will be on Friday, July 5, 2013, 10 a.m. until time of the service at 12 NOON at Compassion Baptist Church 520 W. 22nd Street, Lorain, burial will follow at Ridge Hill Memorial Park, Amherst.
Memorial contributions can be made in Paula's name to the American Heart Association P. O. Box 163549 Columbus, OH 43216-3549.
Arrangements are being handled by Wyers Funeral Chapel 2900 North Ridge Rd. Sheffield Township.
