MADELINE WEAVER Obituary

MADELINE THERESA WEAVER - SOUTH BURLINGTON - Madeline Theresa Weaver died peacefully on Sunday, Nov. 2, 2014, after a brief illness, surrounded by her loving family while residing at the Vermont Respite House in Williston. Madeline was born in New York City on Oct. 28, 1928, and grew up in Watertown, Mass. She graduated from Watertown High School in 1946, and attended the Kathleen Dell Secretarial School in Boston. Upon graduation, she went to work for the prestigious law firm of Charles Kickham in Boston. Madeline met the love of her life, G. Donald Weaver, on a blind date set up by close friends. They married on Dec. 21, 1951. Work opportunities brought the young couple first to Rutland, Vt., where their son, Donald George "D.G.," and daughter, Mary Jo, were born. The family then moved to Mayfair Park in South Burlington, where daughters, Martha and Peggy, were born. Madeline and her family spent many happy years in Mayfair Park and Madeline formed many lifelong friendships with neighbors. Once Madeline's children entered school, she began to work as a legal secretary and eventually worked for Clarke Gravel and Larry Wright of Gravel, Shea and Wright Law Offices for a total of 33 years. She enjoyed the challenges of working outside the home, but her priority was always her family. Madeline was a wonderful mother and grandmother who was devoted to her family. She never missed a game, concert or play and continued to show her support of her grandchildren by attending their events. She made memories special by hosting family dinners and gatherings, and always did it with ease and flair. Madeline volunteered in many organizations including Girl Scouts, PTO, South Burlington Rebel Boosters, and was a faithful parishioner of Saint John Vianney. Madeline leaves her husband, Don, of 63 years; daughters, Martha (Jeff) Small and their son, Justin; Peggy Weaver (Jim Nolting) and their children, Madeline and Dylan Weaver-Nolting; and Mary Jo Weaver and her children, Isaiah and Hannah Benes. Madeline was predeceased by her beloved son, D.G., and leaves his children, Tim, Megan and Molly Weaver, and D.G.'s wife, Larissa Urban. Visiting hours will be held on Tuesday, Nov. 4, 2014, from 4 to 6 p.m. at the Ready Funeral & Cremation Service South Chapel, 261 Shelburne Rd., Burlington. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Wednesday, Nov. 5, 2014, at 10 a.m. in St. John Vianney Church, with burial to follow in Resurrection Park Cemetery, South Burlington.
