WARREN HARDY Obituary

WARREN FREDERICK HARDY - COLCHESTER - Warren Frederick Hardy, 57, of Colchester, passed away suddenly on Wednesday, Nov. 6, 2013. Born in 1956 at Coney Island Hospital, N.Y., to Florence and Charles Hardy, he grew up in Far Rockaway, Long Island. Warren graduated from Far Rockaway High School, and later from Trinity College in Burlington with a degree in criminal justice. He married his wife of 28 years, Carol Briggs Hardy, on June 8, 1985. Warren will be remembered for his kindness to others, his love of music and the outdoors. Nothing made Warren happier then to be able to cook a huge meal for his friends and family. He dedicated his professional life to others less fortunate than he for many years. He was a wonderful and loyal friend to all who knew him. Warren leaves his wife, Carol; son, Kristopher of Burlington; daughter, Olivia of Colchester; brother, Ivey of Waitsfield; father-in-law, Frederick of South Burlington; uncle, Al Robb of Edenton, N.C.; cousins, Rose and Ruth Fitzgerald of Elizabethtown, N.J.; and countless friends. A funeral service will be held on Tuesday, Nov. 12, 2013, at 11 a.m. at Ready Funeral Home, South Chapel, 261 Shelburne Road, Burlington. Visiting hours will be held from 9 a.m. until the time of the service. To send online condolences, please visit www.readyfuneral.com. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Warren's name to Howard Mental Health, 208 Flynn Ave., Burlington, VT 05401.

I miss you Warren. You were my first friend. I remember you and Carol rescuing me when I got stopped by the police and found out my license was. Suspended. Then there was the night I called you at the radio station. You were such a good guy Warren. I will never forget you.

I apologize that this message comes a little late. I worked with Warren at the Howard Center. We shared an office for awhile. He immediately made me feel welcome and part of the team. He was very talented at what he did in and outside of work. I was saddened to hear about his passing as we lost such an incredible soul. My thoughts and prayers go out to his family, although I never met you, he spoke of you often. You will all be in my thoughts and prayers. Jessica

Dear Carol.
I am certain it is difficult to find words duirng this time. Please rest assured that God has an understanding that is beyond our comprehension. I pray in time you and your children are able to heal. As Warren's cousin, our families spent every summer as kids in Far Rockaway. His sly grin was the trademark of his character, I will never forget that. Words are meaningless, but there is Power in the knowledge of Jesus Christ. You have my sincerest prayers and thoughts.

Dear Carol and family,
Like the whole of Vermont and beyond, I am very sad to hear of Warren's passing. Warren was a good friend to me at Hunt's and I enjoyed running into you and he over the years. He was one of Vermont's kindest and most interesting souls. He did good work, was a good role model, and who didn't feel better in the shadow of his smile? Sending love and prayers to you and Warren's family as you go through this time of loss and transition. Godpeed Warren.
Much love, Beth Marvin

Dearest Carol,
I am shocked and saddened to hear of Warren's passing. I feel as if I have known him forever and always half expected to see him around any corner. We had this synchronus pattern in our lives. I have such fond memories of him: 7 Burlington Square, Christopher's B-Day parties, FAHC, the Great Zip-Line Incident at the Tailer's, etc...spanning over 30 years. I want you to know that I am here for you and praying for you and the kids. He was a dear friend. I am so sorry.
