Timothy Scott Duncan, known affectionately as Tim to his family and friends, passed away on March 12, 2024, at the age of 56 after a courageous battle with cancer.
Graveside Service was held 1:00 p.m., Monday, March 18, 2024, Bear Creek Cemetery, 3 miles NE Bertram off FM 243, Bertram, Texas.
In lieu of flowers, the family respectfully request to please make donations to Alev Care Hospice,
American Cancer Society, and
St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.
Born on October 17, 1967, in Georgetown, Texas, Tim was a beacon of light and strength to everyone around him. His selfless nature, intelligence, and faith-filled spirit were the cornerstones of his life, and these attributes were evident in every endeavor he pursued.
Tim grew up in Bertram, Texas and graduated from Burnet High School in 1986. Tim played football, basketball, tennis and baseball for the Bulldogs. He was also class president, Mr. BHS and graduated third in his class. Recently, Tim was inducted into the Burnet CISD Hall of Honor. After graduating from high school, Tim played football for Cisco Junior College and Tulane University. He earned an Associate Degree from Cisco Junior College, a Bachelor's Degree from Tulane University and a Master's Degree from Tarleton State University.
His commitment to learning did not stop at his own achievements, as he went on to inspire countless students as a teacher, coach, and administrator. Tim's passion for education was evident in every lesson he taught and every life he influenced. Tim's commitment to shaping young minds was unwavering, and his influence extended beyond the classroom. He was a mentor and friend to many, often going above and beyond to ensure that his students had the support they needed to succeed. Tim's career in education began in Burnet as a history teacher and football coach. Over 33 years, Tim had the privilege to serve as the head football coach and head basketball coach in Smyer, teach and coach in White Settlement, and serve as the athletic director and head football coach at Fort Sam Houston. He recently retired from education as the Director of Human Resources and Community Relations for White Settlement ISD.
Tim's interests outside of work were as rich and varied as his professional life. He was an avid outdoorsman, finding peace and contentment in the simplicity of camping and fishing. The tranquility of nature was a source of great joy for Tim, and he often shared this love with his family and friends. He also enjoyed golf and looked forward to playing many rounds when he retired.
Those who had the privilege of knowing Tim will remember him as a man of great character and quiet strength. His selflessness was evident in the way he put the needs of others before his own, always ready to lend a helping hand or a listening ear. His intelligence radiated throughout his thoughtful conversations and his insightful approach to problem-solving. Above all, Tim's faith-filled spirit guided him through life's challenges and triumphs, and it was this unwavering faith that gave him strength during his final journey.
Tim was preceded in death by his parents, Frank and Florene Duncan; grandparents, Claude and Flora Bird and Mutt and Marie Allen.
Tim was a devoted husband and loving father. He is survived by his loving wife of 25 years, Lea; their two children, Adam and Mattie, who were the light of his life; He also cherished the bond he shared with his sisters, Leslye Pogue (James) and Shelley Reavis (John); his mother-in-law, Ann (Tommy); sister-in-law, Gay (Scott); Tim's role as a cherished uncle to his numerous nieces and nephews further exemplified his commitment to his family. His unwavering support and unconditional love were the foundations upon which his family thrived. They will forever cherish his memory and hold dear the times they shared.
As we say goodbye to Timothy Scott Duncan, we reflect on a life well-lived, marked by love, service, and a commitment to others. While he has left our earthly presence, his legacy will continue to inspire and influence all who had the honor of knowing him. The memory of Tim's compassionate spirit will live on in the hearts of his beloved family, his friends, and the countless lives he touched through his work. He will be deeply missed, but the lessons he taught us through his example will forever remain. His journey on earth may have ended, but his story will be told for generations to come, a testament to a life of faith, purpose and love.
