Dearest Milly,
I can only hope that this makes its way to heaven, where I know you are now, with a body free from mito, TPN and bipap. I treasure the conversations we had, the advice we shared and our friendship we had. The multiple medical conditions we shared brought us together and we supported each other. I often said we were mirror images with our matching central lines, 2 feeding tubes, mito, EDS, your bipap and my reach.
I have listened to the iPod you gave me every single night for over 2 years. Every time I do, I picture your beautiful smile and the light and joy that radiated from you.You kindly sent it to me before my last spinal fusion surgery when you heard that I was looking for an inexpensive iPod because mine no longer worked.
You had a beautiful spirit and while I am saddened beyond belief that you no longer reside here on earth, I take comfort that you are in Heaven and that I will see you soon. Your spent the last 10 years fighting a battle I know so well and I can only hope that the short time I have left allows me the chance to spread light and joy just as you did.
I miss you so much but I know that you are in Heaven and are not suffering any more. I know that you'll be there when I come to heaven and we will both be free from our pain.

Amelia, I miss you so terribly much. I just feel so much more lonely and lost without you here. You changed me and you changed my life and I love you so much and I will have you as part of me I think for the rest of my life. I wish you were still here but I know how much you were suffering and how it feels and I know how tired you were and I am glad you are finally able to rest and now your body isnt failing anymore and I hope you are riding horses and running and having ice cream in heaven. I will see you again one day, and I am comforted in facing my own uncertain future with mito because I know you are waiting to greet me and many others we both love. I am sure Emily was there to greet you. I really love you my friend. I miss you so much it's like constant pain but I am truly so glad that you aren't in pain anymore, that you aren't struggling anymore and are healed and are happy. Love you forever.

I was with Matthew Dugas and his mom Erica at the hospital one day near the end of his life, when Amelia called to share love and light with dear Matthew. In the middle of her own struggle, she reached out to help others. Over the years, I had heard of so many times when she had done this. What a role model for us all. What an angel. God bless and comfort her family and friends.

Amelia was one of the most inspiring and optimistic people I've ever met. I was so awed by her courage and kindnesses, despite her illness and pain; I've only one other time been so captivated by a patient and remained friends and an admirer. I will continue to try to educate others about these illnesses through the story of Milly and her remarkable friends. My thoughts go out to you, Dory, Andrew, and Lindsay, on your loss. I am grateful for having known Milly and will miss her dearly.

Amelia's CA Visit

March 4, 2016

Amelia's courage, determination and kindness in the face of such difficulties are attributes we should all aspire to. She was a big sister to my daughter, leading by example to show her and many others that illness doesn't have to stop you from having an impact. We are better for knowing her and will miss her very much. Our thoughts are with Andrew, Dory and Lindsay, who did such a wonderful job as a family to love and support Amelia.

We are deeply saddened to hear the news of Amelia's passing. We admired her strength, her intelligence, her faith and her bright spirit under the most trying circumstances. We will always remember her beautiful smile. Thank you for letting us share just a short moment in time with her. We know she brightened the lives of many, and is continuing her mission in the presence of our Lord. She was a faithful servant.
The good news is that we will all get to see her again!
We pray for God's comfort and care for her family during the sad days ahead. He will strengthen you and give you peace.
Love,
Alicia and John Wagner
