Richard Fox Obituary

Richard Louis Fox, 85, of Cabot, passed away Tuesday, March 4, 2025.
Richard was born May 6, 1939, in Cabot, to Louis and Lola (Montgomery) Fox.
He graduated from Winfield-Clinton School in 1957. He was drafted into the U.S. Army in 1961 and served for two years. Richard bought his first truck in 1968 and started Fox's Trucking and later Fox's Water Service. He retired in 1999, but remained active with the company until a few years ago. If you live in the area and have a swimming pool, chances are Richard filled it at some point. He was a lifelong member of Zion United Methodist Church in Sarver.
Richard married his high school sweetheart, Eleanor Jeanne (DeVando) Fox on Oct. 22, 1960. They had recently celebrated their 64th wedding anniversary.
Richard was the proud father of three children, Cory (Sally) Fox, Trent Fox and Shannon Fox; grandfather of four grandchildren, Cayce (Jonathan) Johnson, Hayle (Austin Brezinski) Fox, Corey Payne and Tanner Payne; and four great-grandchildren, Maggie, Mia and Matthew Johnson, and Scarlett Payne.
Richard is survived by his brother, Bernard Fox; and four sisters, Ruth O'Conner, Beverly Chronister, Wanda McRoberts and Jane Fox.
Richard was preceded in death by a sister, Ganelle (Fox) Alderson.
The self-proclaimed mayor of the west end of Leasureville Road, Richard will be lovingly remembered for his love of sweets, especially chocolate chip cookies and his pride in his yard. Anyone who drives down Leasureville Road in the summertime understands. While he will be greatly missed, his family will not miss having to pick up rocks and sticks out of the yard this spring, a dreaded task every year for all the grandchildren. In Richard's own words, "I went Kerflooey." Don't worry dad, we will make sure mom locks all the doors at night.
His family would like to thank the nurses at UPMC St. Margaret Hospital for their expert care and the kindness they showed the last three weeks.
FOX - Friends of Richard Louis Fox, who died Tuesday, March 4, 2025, will be received from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Friday, March 7, at FOX FUNERAL HOME, 410 W. Main St., Saxonburg.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, March 8, at Zion Methodist Community Church, 438 Bear Creek Road, Sarver, with the Rev. Seth McClymonds officiating.
Burial will be in the Saxonburg Memorial Church Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggest contributions be made in Richard's honor to Zion Methodist Community Church, Sarver.
