Virginia Thompson Obituary

Virginia D. Thompson, 90, passed away peacefully in her sleep on Wednesday, May 26, 2021.

She was the daughter of the late Charles and Antoinette Manfredi of New York. She was born on Oct. 7, 1930, in Brooklyn, N.Y.
She married the love of her life, Frank Burton Thompson Jr., on Oct. 24, 1953.

She traveled in Europe with Frank during his years of service in the U.S. Army, and finally settled down in Butler upon his retirement from active duty in 1970.

Ginny, as she was known by her treasured friends, was a stay-at-home mom until 1970. At that time, she went to work for J.C. Penney, and then had a long career with the Butler Area School District as a secretary at both Lyndora and Meridian elementary schools.
After retiring in 1993, she traveled to Alaska, Italy, Ireland and Germany, just to name a few. She spent her weekends at her home away from home - Kozy Rest Campground in Harrisville. She also worked part time at the Bon Ton, and volunteered at Butler Memorial Hospital and Meals on Wheels.

Virginia was a member of St. Peter Roman Catholic Church, where she also volunteered. She loved remaining active in our community.
Virginia was an avid reader, loved to cross-stitch, was a die-hard Steelers fan, and never missed an episode of ""Days of Our Lives."" She loved being around her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Virginia lived with her youngest child, Theresa and her family, Evan and Emily, for over 16 years in Butler, before moving in February 2020 to her eldest child's home, Christine.

Virginia leaves behind three daughters, Christine Abraham of Henryville, Ind., Karen McCue of Fenelton, and Theresa (Evan) Christon of Meadville; six grandchildren, Tom (Jeccica) O'Brien, Kelley O'Brien, Rebecca (David) Abraham, Angela (Michael) McCandless, Pat McCue and Emily (Kirk) Russell; 13 great-grandchildren, Ethan, Melani, Aedan, Edward, MacKayla, MacKenna, Michael, Cayden, Caylee, Caleb, Grayson, Hannah and Logan.

""The LORD repay you for what you have done, and a full reward be given you by the LORD, the God of Israel, under whose wings you have come to take flight"" ~ Ruth 2:12

My folks and I camped with GIni and Frank at Kozy Rest Campground from 1985-1988. We visited each others homes during the off-season. Gini made the best lasagna ever. She and Frank were both great people and honored to have known them.
