David Baltazar Obituary

David Baltazar, 74, of Corpus Christi, Texas, passed away on Saturday, July 6, 2002, at his residence. He moved his family to Corpus Christi in 1954. He was married for 54 years to his loving wife Dora. He was Top insurance sales agent for 19 years for the Western Southern Life Ins. He later worked at C.C.A.D. as an aviation transmission Mechanic for twenty years until his retirement. He was a Boxing Promoter and owner of the Baltazar Boxing Stable. He traveled all around the world with his boxing. He even appeared on the ABC Wide World of Sports. David served in the U.S. Air Force. He helped the community for over thirty years. He played Semi-Pro Baseball for the Blue Jays, Estrada Motor Co., and Corpus Christi Seals. He loved sports and music. He was a self-taught man. He taught himself to play the trumpet. He loved to dance, to play golf, to cook on Sundays for his family, making up his own recipes and the outdoors. He was a loving and devoted husband, father, and grandfather. He is survived by his wife Dora; five daughters, Salia Martinez (Joe Molina), Tina Ortiz (B.J.), Diane Garcia (Pete Jr.) of Corpus Christi; Doris Ortega (Elias) of San Antonio, Texas and Charlotte Suarez (Alex) of Phoenix, Arizona; one son, David Baltazar, Jr. of Corpus Christi; 18 grandchildren; and 23 great-grandchildren. Visitation will begin at 9:00 A.M. until 9:00 P.M., Monday, July 8, 2002, with a Rosary recited at 7:00 P.M., at Memorial Funeral Home Holly Chapel. Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10:00 A.M., Tuesday, July 9, 2002 at Holy Family Catholic Church. Interment will follow at Rose Hill Memorial Park. Pallbearers will be David Baltazar III, Jason Ortiz, Christopher Ortega, Michael Ortega, Robert Lee Ortega, T.J. Martinez, Patrick Cisneros, Jr., Pete Garcia, III and Alex Suarez, Jr.
