James Sharples Obituary

James Richard Sharples, 82, formerly of Londonderry, New Hampshire died peacefully January 15, 2008. He was born May 4, 1925 in Newmarket, New Hampshire to Ruth Varney Sharples and Robert Sharples. He was raised in Laconia, New Hampshire. Richard proudly served his country in the U.S. Navy during World War II and retired after 20 years of service. He then took up a career in car sales for Genest Ford and Dobles Chevrolet of Manchester, New Hampshire and retired again after 24 years. He married Barbara A. Merrill August 24, 1955 and both retired to Corpus Christi where Richard was very active in the Fleet Reserve Association Unit 94. Richard was also a Mason being a member of St. Marks #44, Derry N. H., and reached a 32 degree of Bektash Temple, Manchester, N.H. He was a member of the American Legion Post 27 of Londonderry, N.H. and a life member of the V.F.W. of Corpus Christi, Texas. Survivors include his wife, Barbara; daughters, Jami Canino of New Hampshire and S. Carolina and Suzanne Grossi of Illinois; four grandsons; brother, Bruce V. Sharples of Mississippi and nieces and nephews. A memorial service will be held at 4:00 p.m., Friday, January 18, 2008 at Cage-Mills Funeral Directors, 4901 Everhart Road. Many thanks to the staff at Dubuis Hospital. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Fleet Reserve Association, Scholarship Fund, 1651 Flour Bluff Dr. ? Corpus Christi, TX 78418.
