Vivian Whittington Obituary
Vivian Juanita Whittington, 84, passed away on October 10, 2002 in Corpus Christi, Texas. She was born on December 9, 1917, in Braggs, Oklahoma, and grew up in McAllen, Texas. where she met and married her husband, Royeston Whittington. Vivian lived the last 49 years in Corpus Christi, where she was a faithful member of the Windsor Park Church of Christ. She served for many years as a teacher in Sunday School, Vacation Bible School, Ladies Class, and the Prison Ministry. She worked as a substitute teacher for CCISD and as an English grader at Baker Jr. High and King High School. She was admired and loved by all who knew her. Vivian Whittington's greatest work was in the church, serving God, and in her home, caring for her four children and husband. She was the kindest, warmest, most loving mother and wife, and spent all of her time and effort serving those she loved. She will be loved and missed forever by her children, and they look forward to a family reunion in Heaven one day. Vivian was preceded in death by her husband of 60 years, Royeston, who passed away on July 5, 2002. She is survived by four children, Gary (Ava) Whittington of Harlingen, Texas, Chaplain Colonel Michael (Debbie) Whittington USAF-Honolulu, Hawaii, Janet (Gene) Sharp of Corpus Christi and Marcus (Esther) Whittington of Corpus Christi, Texas; 10 grandchildren: Cheree Sharp (Joel) Jackson of Corpus Christi, Captain John Marc (Erika) Whittington USAF-Guam, Aaron (Tarin) Whittington of Corpus Christi, Selene Sharp (Joseph) Flores of Corpus Christi, Texas, Arwen Whittington (Randy) Blankinship of Harlingen, Eric Whittington of Washington D.C., Vanessa Sharp (Troy) Tuttle of Corpus Christi, Rebecca Whittington of Harlingen, Texas, Monet Sharp (Ralph) Castillo of Taft, Texas, Shane Whittington of Nashville, Tennessee; and nine great-grandchildren. Visitation will be from 6:00 P.M. until 8:00 P.M., Monday, October 14, 2002. Funeral services will be at 10:00 A.M., Tuesday, October 15, 2002 at Memory Gardens Funeral Home Chapel, with interment to follow at Memory Gardens Cemetery. Family requests donations be made to Camp Bandina or Prison Ministry in care of Windsor Park Church of Christ.
