Walter E. Heinz

Corpus Christi, TX

Walter E. Heinz was 98 and born on January 3, 1920 in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. He received a Master's degree in Organic Chemistry from the University of Wisconsin. He was a WWII Navy Pilot. He worked for Celanese, the second largest chemical company in the USA at the time, retiring after a 35 year distinguished career compiling over 30 patents and finishing his career as Director of Research and Development at the Clarkwood Research Facility. One of his patents is a product called Celcon which was invented in 1959. It is still produced today with over one pound of the product in every car made. Celcon is the most profitable product ever produced by Celanese.

Walter enjoyed life to the fullest, playing golf, fishing, hunting and traveling the world with this beloved wife, Bonnie. He married Bonnie Giltner on September 5, 1987, and they were to soon celebrate their 31st wedding anniversary. With faith, wisdom and boundless love he treasured spending time with his eight children, 23 grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren.

Walter was predeceased by his first wife, Gayle Hillegeist Heinz, his two sisters, Olga Schmidt and Ottilie Gauger, his brother, Bill Heinz, son, John Giltner and son-in-law, Ray Vance. He is survived by his seven children: Rick and Susan Heinz, Jenny and Eric Zehner, Paula Vance, Lisa and Paul Wolff, Matt and Missy Giltner, Tom and Teresa Giltner, Margaret Giltner, and Mark and Susan Giltner.
