Robert H. Heinold
Age 83, of Uniontown, passed away peacefully Friday, July 25, 2014, at home surrounded by his loving family. He was born in East Orange, N.J., on June 28, 1931, to the late Herman and Ruth (Bacher) Heinold; and graduated with a BS in Chemical Engineering from Lafayette College in Pennsylvania in 1953. He served in the Army from 1953- 1955, and met Norma Reed while stationed at the Watertown Arsenal in Massachusetts. They were married in Nov. 1956. Robert spent his early engineering career at Hercules Inc. in Wilmington, Del., where he contributed to the development of the Minuteman Missile. He worked at Hercules Inc. from 1955-1979 living in Delaware, Md. and New Jersey, then came to Ohio to work at A. Schulman Inc., retiring in 2001. While at A. Schulman Inc., he was known worldwide for his contributions to the plastics industry. He was inducted into the Plastics Hall of Honor in 1996. His interests included golf, gardening, square dancing, and traveling. As avid travelers, Bob and Norma had visited all 50 states and 6 of the 7 continents.
He is survived by his wife of 57 years, Norma; children: Terri Priest of Hartville, Ohio, Steven and Rosemary Heinold of Bel Air, Md., and Dianne Heinold of Hull, Mass.; brother-in-law, Bruce Reed of Troy, Va.; and nieces, Nancy (Wayne) Koyanik of Palmyra, Va., and Lynne Reed of Burlington, Vt.
Bob requested that there be no service or eulogies, just a gathering of friends and family. This will take place on Saturday, Aug. 9th., from 2-4 p.m. at Arnold Funeral Home Hartville.
