Ann Jackson Obituary

Ann Jackson, 73, died peacefully at Hospice of the Chesapeake on December 14th less than one month after being diagnosed with a rapidly spreading form of ovarian cancer. Ann is survived by her husband, Michael McCormick, three sisters - Ellen Berty, Patricia Jackson and Paula Mee, one brother - Thomas Jackson, many nephews and nieces, a grandnephew and two grandnieces. Ann was born in Lawrence, Kansas on May 20, 1949. She graduated with a Master's Degree in Early Childhood Education from Penn State University in the 80's. She shared her love and respect for children with many infants, toddlers and preschoolers over a long and happy career. More recently, Ann worked for the Annie E. Casey Foundation on leadership development programs for organizations serving children and families. Over the past 10+ years, Ann's passion has been for protecting our environment and the Chesapeake Bay watershed. She completed the Anne Arundel County Watershed Steward Academy (WSA) program with the first class in 2011 and was recognized as Steward of the Year. She has led and participated in countless projects in our county to improve water quality in the bay by planting trees, slowing stormwater runoff, and educating others to get involved. All of these facts can't possibly reflect Ann's enthusiastic love of life and the joy that she shared with so many. She has made our world a better place. A private celebration of Ann's life has been held. Her body was donated to the Anatomy Gifts Registry for medical research and teaching. The family has requested that in lieu of flowers, donations in Ann's memory be made to the Watershed Steward Academy - http://aawsa.org/donate.

Please accept my condolences on dear Ann's passing. I always called her with any environmental issues. She was so knowledgeable and eager to help. She left the world a better place and she will be missed.

Mike and family members of Anns, I'm sorry for the loss of Ann and the sunshine she spread. Her spirit was beautiful and in all that she did, she did it with love and joy in her heart. I was fortunate to exercise with her, see her at live music, and to be part of an environmental action group that met at her home. I loved her smile and laugh, and I know you miss that every day.
