Catherine Thomas Obituary

Catherine Marie Turner Thomas, 91, of Annapolis, MD, passed away on March 29, 2023, after years of debilitating dementia. Catherine, known to everyone as 'Peggy,' was born on January 4, 1932, to Catherine and Clarence Turner in Annapolis. Peggy worked tirelessly for 42 years at Anne Arundel General Hospital. She started in food service and hospital staff. Several years later, she moved on to central service tech charged with sterilizing and storing instruments critical for surgery. She was extremely fortunate to have found a man who couldn't have loved her more, Richard Thomas, of Baltimore, MD. They married and enjoyed a harmonious relationship of travel, dancing, and in-home parties with friends and family. Richard passed in 1984. Peggy was the mother of two daughters, Renée Greene, the eldest, and Claudia Brashears, her youngest. Both reside in Boston, MA, where their mother spent her final years in Boston with them. She was a long-standing Mt. Zion Methodist Church member and the church choir. She is survived by her sister Frances Davis, her husband, Roscoe of Glen Burnie, and brother Leonard R. Turner and his wife, Eleanor, of Newark, DE. She is also survived by two granddaughters, Meagan Mycroft, of Holly Springs, NC, and Michon Townsend of Newark, DE, six great grand-children, and four great-great-grandchildren. Her sisters, Annamay Brown and Charlotte Diana Prince preceded her in death, as did her brothers, William "Billy" Turner, Clarence Allen Turner, Jr., and Leon Otto Turner. Services will be held on Monday, April 10, 2023, at 10:00 AM at Mt. Zion Methodist Church, 612 2nd Street, Annapolis.
