Howard Cupples Obituary

Howard Cupples, M.D., passed away on July 24, 2025, following a long battle with prostate cancer. Honored as an Eagle Scout, Dr. Cupples served twenty-two years in the U.S. Navy Medical Corps, retiring at the rank of Captain. Following his military career, he became Chair of the Department of Ophthalmology at Georgetown University. There, he was admired for his leadership, skill, and his commitment to advancing medical education. He continued to serve others by providing medical care to veterans, a cause close to his heart. A proud and devoted father, he was known for his unwavering love and support for his children, and for taking great pride in their accomplishments and the people they became. He is survived by his wife, Gretchen, as well as other loving members and friends. A celebration of Dr. Cupples' life will be held at a later date.
