Judith Baker Obituary

Judy Baker, 79, passed away peacefully on March 2nd. Born Judith Lenore Brawner on March 7, 1945 in Clinton, MD, to William "Paul" Brawner and Virginia "Frances" Brawner, nee Marks. She graduated from Surrattsville High School in '63, Trinity College in DC with honors in '01 in Human Relations, and Loyola University in MD with honors in '01 in Pastoral Counseling. She worked many jobs in business, in management and administration, and ended her working career as a pastoral counselor in a role that truly fit her loving spirit. She also studied healing energy and herbalism, was a Reiki master, and helped others with Healing Touch and other healing modalities. She was a long time member of Unity By The Bay in Severna Park and later in St Margarets, and enjoyed attending Unity Center of Light in Bowie, and also Camden Friends Meeting while she and her husband lived in the Dover, DE area. She enjoyed ballet, music, dancing, artistic painting, spiritual study groups, mother nature, Baba (her beloved Pomeranian), attending the women's march in DC, being near the water, but most of all family and friends. She appreciated meditating as a path for living, yoga, all forms of religion, inclusive living, and all things good and true and beautiful. She is survived by her husband William Mitchell "Mike" Baker, her beloved son Jimmy Chaney and family, wife Lisa and grown grandsons Kody and Kasey, Mike's children and families Lori and Eric Veiel and Ben and Lizzie, and Alan and Kristin Baker and Maeve and Oscar, her three brothers, Paul "Mike" Brawner/ Melanie, John "Bill" Brawner/ Carole, and George "Les" Brawner, and Mike's siblings Pat Gilreath and Jay/ Carol Baker, Mike's previous wife Carole Baker, Mike's brother in law Norm Kohler, and all the many lovely extended family members. Check family tree for more details! She is preceded in death by her parents, Mike's sister Marjie Baker, and Mike's brother in law Hal Gilreath. A celebration and spreading of ashes is planned at their home in Lothian on the afternoon of March 15, starting at 1pm, and, she wishes to thank all the kind, gentle, tolerant, accepting, helpful, forgiving, and humorous people she feels honored to have interacted with, or not, in this life.

I just found out about Judith passing and I feel very sad. We went to Surratsville together and she was my first girl friend at 16yo for a short time before I returned to England. I still kept in contact with her on Facebook and we had very good memories together She is missed very much. LOVE YOU JUDY
