Mrs. Shay and I sent Christmas greetings for many years. When I was a toddler/little girl Dr. and Mrs. Shay were tenants of my grandparents Charles and Marie Russell on Stuart Avenue. Mrs. Shay was always so kind and welcoming to me. I would climb the stairs to their second floor apartment and visit and eat cookies. The Russell family was very fond of the Shays.

I am so very sorry to hear about Sara Frances. I have always looked forward to seeing her at the annual POW/MIA League of Families conference and had missed her in these last few years. She was always an inspiration and highly informative person about the issue as well as life in general. A great mind to pick from. May she rest in peace.

Dear Shay Family, Mrs. Shay was such a treasure as you know and she made such an impact on my familys life in the short time we knew her. I was briefly the Air Force analyst for her sons loss and during our brief interactions, her passion for following dreams, love of family, and voracious reading habits made an impression on me. She invited my family out to dinner at the local Italian eatery and paid for ita gesture that meant a lot to our family. :) She was a wonderful lady. We will be praying for your family as you walk the road of remembrance and grieving.
Sending love and prayers from her Air Force family, Rob, Debbie, Mike, and Sam Hatala
