Voward Foster, "Vow", 73, of Edgewater and previously of Adelphi, died January 4 at Anne Arundel Medical Center of heart failure after a 7-year illness.
He was born May 20, 1937, in McQuary County, Ky., and was employed as a Tree Surgeon with the Architect of the Capitol for 38 years. Vow was a member of Chesapeake Christian Fellowship and the College Park Moose Lodge. He enjoyed bowling, hunting, poker, dominoes and spending time with his children and grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his sister, Katherine Dolan.
He is survived by his wife of 53 years, Ruth M. Foster; three children, Deborah (Ray) Hostetter of Edgewater, Sherry A. Foster of Edgewater and Bradley C. (Christine) Foster of Elkridge; five siblings, Elmer Foster of Davidsonville, Arvil Foster of Edgewater, Elsie SanNichols of Calif., Cornelia Largent of Florence, S.C. and Dorothy Britton of Annapolis; six grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
Friends are invited to Vow's Life Celebration from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. on Thursday, January 6 at the George P. Kalas Funeral Home, 2973 Solomons Island Road, Edgewater. A funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. on Friday, January 7 at Chesapeake Christian Fellowship, 377 West Central Avenue, Davidsonville. Interment George Washington Cemetery, Adelphi.
