Daniel Turner Obituary

Daniel Walker Turner, age 62, of Westminster, passed away on Monday, January 8, 2024, at MedStar Washington Hospital Center after a stoic battle with pneumonia. Fifteen months earlier, Dan had been blessed with the gift of life after a very successful heart transplant. Within that gifted time, he was able to attend his son's wedding, enjoy watching his three grandchildren blossom, and spend beautiful and quality time with his wife and family. Born on March 22, 1961 in Takoma Park, he was the son of the late Brice Williams Turner and Virginia Walker Turner. Having shared 40 loving years of marriage, he was the husband of Patrice M. Turner. Dan was retired from the Johns Hopkins Applied Physics Lab after his employment as a department administrator. He was a member of St. Paul United Methodist Church in New Windsor. More than anything, Dan treasured his family and his time spent with his grandchildren. He was a VW enthusiast as he spent much of his spare time rebuilding old VW "bugs" when he wasn't with family. Dan also had a great love for dogs and always had the desire to rescue as often as he could. In addition to his wife, he is survived by his daughter, Annalise M. Evans and husband Josh of New Windsor; his son, Calvin W. Turner and wife Bridget of Manchester; and his beautiful grandchildren, Wyatt, Owen and Isla Evans. He is also survived by his sister, Hallie Weber and husband Ron of North Carolina and his nephew (Bradley Weber) and niece (Erin Weber). A memorial service will be held at 11:00am on Saturday, January 13 at St. Paul United Methodist Church, 200 Main St., New Windsor, with Rev. Shari McCourt, church pastor, officiating. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the United Network for Organ Sharing, ATTN: UNOS Philanthropy, 700 N. 4th St., Richmond, VA 23219. A message or memory may be placed on his "tribute wall" at www.hartzlerfuneralhome.com.

Dan was one of the bravest people we´ve ever known. After fighting to regain his health after his long illness, he found he needed a heart transplant. He and Patty followed a long road until the transplant donor was found, and it´s heartbreaking to find he lost his health battles after such a valiant fight. We send our love and deepest sympathy to Patty and her family.
