Douglas Blizzard Obituary

Douglas MacArthur Blizzard, 81, of Hampstead, passed away on Thursday, September 14, 2023, at BridgingLife Dove House. Born on May 9, 1942, in Patapsco, he was the son of the late George and Claudine (Wagner) Blizzard. Douglas was a graduate of Westminster High School, class of '66. He was a proud Veteran of the United States Army. He was an avid sports enthusiast and especially enjoyed football, baseball and dancing. Douglas was a supporter and member of several local service organizations including the Westminster VFW (Molleville Farm) Post 467 where he was a member of the Honor Guard, the American Legion- Carroll Post #31, the Hanover American Veterans Post# 22, the Littlestown Eagles 2226 and the Westminster Moose Family Center 1381. Gene always loved singing karaoke, being outside, and spending time with his family and friends. Douglas is survived by his daughter Tina Fisher of Westminster, grandson Matthew Fisher and granddaughter Megan Fisher. He also leaves his brothers, Gordon Blizzard, Roland Blizzard and Larry Blizzard, and many loving nieces, nephews and other family members. He was predeceased by his siblings, George "Edward" Blizzard; Russell Blizzard, Melvin Blizzard, Wilson Blizzard, Joan Harbaugh, and Sylvia Larrimore. The family will welcome friends on Thursday, September 21, 2023, from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 pm at Pritts Funeral Home & Chapel, 412 Washington Rd., Westminster. Funeral services will be on Friday, September 22nd at the funeral home at 9:30 am. Interment, with military honors, will follow at the Maryland Veteran Cemetery at Garrison Forest. In lieu of flowers, donations in his memory may be made to the Westminster VFW, 467, 519 Poole Road, Westminster, MD 21157, or to the American Legion Carroll Post 31, 2 Sycamore Street, Westminster, MD 21157. I am so sorry to hear about Douglas passing!! He was such a charming,loving person!!
Like so may of our cousins we lost track of each others. How sad that famlies lose track of each other when we grow up and move away.
