Evelyn Dolores Schaeffer, 84, of Finksburg, passed away peacefully to be with her Heavenly Father an our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on November 21, 2023. Born February 3, 1939, in Pennsylvania, she was the daughter of the late Richard William Dell and Lillian Josephine Harman Dell. She was the beloved wife of 64 years to Ralph Joseph Schaeffer, Sr., who passed away on January 13, 2020. Evelyn attended school in
Westminster, MD. She was a member of Patapsco United Methodist Church in Finksburg, MD where she held offices such as Lay Leader and Board of Trustees. She also was a member of the Outreach & Witness committee. Evelyn was a member of the United Methodist Women where she held the office of President from 1979-1987. She was also the leader of the Methodist Youth Fellowship at Patapsco Church. She volunteered at Patapsco Church dinners where she served and helped to prepare the dinners. Her heart was with her church and her Patapsco community. Throughout her life, she was employed by several local manufacturing companies including Random House and Black & Decker. She devoted her life to her husband, children and all other family members and will be forever missed but always in our hearts. She enjoyed dancing, crewel embroidery, painting and loved to please others with her fabulous cooking and baking. She is survived by a daughter Deborah Dolores Carlson and husband Jay Carlson of
Westminster, MD and son Ralph Joseph Schaeffer, Jr. and wife Josie Schaeffer of
Westminster, MD, sibling Carroll Dell of Charles Town, WV; sisters-in-law Miriam Dell of Finksburg, MD and Sandra Dell of Hereford, MD, grandchildren Rachael Renee Cash and husband Christopher Cash, Jessica Lynn Shockney and husband Steven Shockney, Amanda Dolores Mueller and husband Jason Mueller, Jennifer Jo Schultz and husband Matthew Schultz, Jaclyn Marie Love and husband Travis Love; great-grandchildren Kayla Cash, Christian Hooper, Naomi Watts, Violet Shockney, Juliette Shockney, Zachary Shockney, Hank Shockney, James Schultz, Levi Schultz, Bodhi Love, and Sullivan Love, step great-grandchild Lilah Mueller and many cousins, nieces, and nephews. Evelyn was predeceased by brothers Melvin Victor Dell and Edward Lee Dell, sisters Phyllis Pearl Carico, Faye Marie Tracey and Eleanor Dell; grandson Ronald Henry Hooper, Jr and great-granddaughter MaKenzi Rae Cash; brothers and sisters in-law Albert Schaeffer, Jr., Carl Dell, Wesley Bowersox, John Knouse, Ernest Carico, Sr., Ruth Knouse, Katie Bowersox and Joyce Dell. A viewing will be held Saturday, November 25, 2023, from 11:00 am - 1:00pm, with funeral services beginning at 1:00 pm at Fletcher Funeral & Cremation Services, 254 East Main Street,
Westminster, MD. Interment will follow at Patapsco United Methodist Church Cemetery.
