Helen Gettle Obituary

Helen Marie Gettle, 93, of Manchester, MD passed away Saturday, May 24, 2025 at the BridgingLife Hospice Dove House in Westminster, MD. Born September 17, 1931 in Snydersburg, MD, she was a daughter of the late Irvin George Rill and the late Jennie Mildred (née Allinder) Bollinger. She was the wife of the late Robert C. Gettle, Sr. Mrs. Gettle had worked as a seamstress for Jos. A. Bank in Hampstead, MD. She was a member of Hampstead Baptist Church, where she taught Sunday school and Bible school. She enjoyed playing bingo, crafts, and bowling. Surviving are her daughters and son-in-law, Doris and John Steiner of Manchester and Linda J. Shifflett of Hampstead; son, Robert C. Gettle, Jr. of Hampstead; 14 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; and five great-great-grandchildren. The family will receive friends Thursday, May 29, 2025, from 2:00 to 4:00 p.m. and 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at ELINE FUNERAL HOME, 934 South Main Street, Hampstead. A funeral service will be held on Friday, May 30, 2025, beginning at 11:00 a.m. at the funeral home with Pastor Andrew Bell officiating. Interment will follow in Evergreen Memorial Gardens, Finksburg, MD. Memorials are suggested to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, PO Box 1000, Dept 142, Memphis, TN 38101.
