Dr. Larry Lee Houser, 77, of Westminster passed away on Sunday, June 27, 2021 at home with his wife and son by his side. Larry was the cherished husband of Ginny Peterson Houser, his wife of nearly 53 years. Larry was born on April 5, 1944 in River Falls, WI to the late Elmont and Helen Bunker Houser. He was raised in River Falls where he received his Bachelor's Degree from the University of Wisconsin at River Falls. He later earned his Master's Degree and his Doctorate of Philosophy in Secondary Education from The Pennsylvania State University. Larry was the Supervisor of Mathematics for Carroll County Public Schools for 31 years and also taught courses at McDaniel College. He was active in mathematics education regionally and nationally. He served as President of the Maryland Council of Teachers of Mathematics (MCTM). Also, his many contributions to the National Council of Teachers of Mathematics (NCTM) included regular attendance and presentations at conferences, and numerous published manuscripts regarding the teaching and learning of mathematics. Surviving in addition to his wife is son, Lee D. Houser and wife Danay of Charlotte, NC and granddaughter Sienna. He also leaves a brother, Dr. Donald R. Houser of Columbus, OH. In addition to his parents, Larry was predeceased by son, Scott A. Houser. Larry enjoyed golfing, gardening, snow skiing, and traveling with family in the U.S. and abroad. He was also skilled at playing pool and badminton, and attended Westminster Baptist Church. Most of all, Larry enjoyed spending time and sharing his keen sense of humor with family, friends, and colleagues. His family welcomes friends to celebrate his life on Saturday, July 10, 2021 from 2 to 5 pm at Pritts Funeral Home and Chapel, 412 Washington Road, Westminster, MD. Please use Chapel entrance. A Memorial Service will begin at 5 pm with Pastor Larry Steen officiating. A private interment will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations in Larry's memory may be made to BridgingLife, formerly Carroll Hospice, 292 Stoner Avenue, Westminster, MD 21157. My sympathy to all of the Houser Family. Larry was the kindest, most thoughtful supervisor any math teacher could have. Even if you did something wrong he would always support you. His laugh was infectious. He leaves behind a legacy of well trained teachers. He will be missed.

To Ginny, Lee, and Family:
I am praying for your family - may our Lord give you comfort during this difficult time.
Larry was my Supervisor and friend. He graciously allowed me to make the switch from teaching Language Arts to teaching Math, something that I was fortunate to do for many years. During the time that he was my Supervisor, he was always supportive, kind, humorous, and helpful. I enjoyed discussing sports with him, as well as Math. Larry´s calm demeanor and kind smile always gave me a feeling of ease as he observed my teaching. He taught me a lot! I am thankful that he was a part of my life.
I look forward to talking with him again, someday!
