Larry Elwood Koontz

June 30, 1939 – May 10, 2021 Larry Elwood Koontz, 81, of Hope Mills, NC, passed away on May 10, 2021. Born in Emmitsburg, MD, on June 30, 1939, he was the son of the late George Elwood and Grace Irene (Overholtzer) Koontz. He is survived by his wife, Lisa Faulkner Koontz; children: Jessica (Toucey) Lerma, Michelle Toucey and Justin Koontz of Hope Mills, NC, Tyler Koontz of Wilmington, NC; grandchildren: Christopher and Savanna Lerma, Hailey and Hannah Faircloth of Hope Mills, NC. In addition, he is survived by his daughters, Patricia Souders ( Ronnie) of Hagerstown, MD and Kimberly Hines (Bill) of Blandon, PA from his previous marriage to Bertha Fredrikis Koontz Rill. Larry is also survived by his siblings, Barbara Six, Sylvia Gross and Donald Koontz of Taneytown, MD and Judy Baer of Palm Coast, FL. He was preceded in death by his brother, Carroll Koontz, of Gettysburg, PA. Larry was employed by Black & Decker Company for over 30 years prior to his retirement having transferred from the Hampstead, MD plant around 1987 to Fayetteville, NC. He will always be remembered for his singing and he loved to play cards as well. He was a friend to everyone he met and will be missed by many. A memorial service will be held Saturday, June 26, 2021 from 1PM-4PM with light refreshments at Harney Volunteer Fire Company, 5130 Harney Rd., Taneytown, MD 21787.
