Michael Raymond Paxton, age 77, of
Taneytown, Maryland passed away peacefully on Thursday, May 2, 2024 at his home. Born October 8, 1946 in
Washington, D.C. Mike was the son of George Raymond Paxton and Dorothy Louise O'Connor Paxton. He grew up with his sisters in Silver Spring and enjoyed spending time in his youth at "the beach" on the Patuxent River in Southern Maryland. Mike graduated from Good Counsel High School, and attended the University of Maryland, before serving his country in the United States Army from 1968-1971. He went on to have a very successful career in information technology with Lockheed Martin Corporation, retiring as Vice President in the company. In addition to his work with Lockheed, Mike was an active member of his Church, Emmanuel Baust United Church of Christ, and he was actively involved in the Colonial Newfoundland Club. Mike was a loving and dedicated husband. He met the love of his life, Kathleen (Kathy) in high-school, and theirs was the true American love story. They were married on November 30, 1968. Together they raised their daughter Lynda (Lynn), instilling in her their shared values and work ethic, and Mike's love for animals and fast cars. Mike enjoyed traveling with his wife, especially cruising, running his train collection for all of the children in his life, grilling, family dinners, reading, and movies. Mike was an absolute family man. He loved nothing more than being an Opa, and spending time with his family. He will be forever remembered, and deeply missed. Michael leaves to cherish his memory: his wife, Kathy; daughter, Lynn (Kent); grandchildren, Jacob and Nikki (JR); great-grandchildren, Rory, Brinn, and Connor; sisters, Susan (Bill) and Linda (Martin), and treasured nieces and nephews. Services will remain private; however, the family would like to express their deepest gratitude to all of those that knew and loved Mike, and to those that have supported his family during this time. Donations can be made in his memory to BridgingLife Hopsice, 292 Stoner Ave.,
