Nancy Kelly Obituary

Nancy Lee Kelly, 84, passed away on Thursday, July 21, 2022, after a long battle with cancer. Born on October 1, 1937, Nancy was the daughter of the late Albert and Helen Vaughn Kelly. She grew up on the family poultry farm on Oakland Road in Eldersburg. Nancy graduated with The Sykesville High School class of 1955. Nancy is survived by her loving sisters, Betty Markowski and Cecelia Kelly, her sons, Dwayne Patrick "Dewey" Renehan and wife Lucy, Philip Sydney Renehan and wife Kelli and granddaughter Kelsie Renehan, studying in Berlin, Germany. She leaves numerous nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her sister Shirley Kelly Baker. Nancy was a lifelong member of the Oakland United Methodist Church where she loved her congregation. She especially liked participating in Heritage Sunday and serving at the soup kitchen for many years. She played competitive tennis and Mahjong with her friends. She enjoyed ORIOLES Baseball, her favorite players were Adam Jones and Cedric Mullins. Nancy retired from Bendix Field Engineering having worked in several locations in Maryland and she was the business administrator at the NASA tracking station on Ascension Island in the south Atlantic for 7 years. This was a very exciting assignment when the astronauts were orbiting the earth in the 1980's. She enjoyed the office personnel that she supervised and the sun and sand of the island. When she returned stateside, she worked at Goddard Space Flight Center in Greenbelt. She later earned a degree in Interior Decorating from the School of Interior Design. Nancy traveled to Europe, Alaska, Hawaii and many of the United States. The family will receive friends from 12 to 2pm on Sunday, July 24, 2022, at Haight Funeral Home & Chapel, 6416 Sykesville Road, Sykesville, MD. A celebration of her life will follow at Oakland United Methodist Church, Sykesville, MD at 3pm on Sunday, July 24, 2022, with the Reverend Robert T. Wellman officiating. Interment will be in Old Oakland Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, those desiring may make memorial donations to Oakland Cemetery Trustees c/o Gail Martin 6170 Oakland Mills Rd Sykesville MD or the Maryland Cancer Fund.
