Brian Roos Obituary
Brian Howard Roos of Coeur d'Alene, ID passed away suddenly at his home on December 16, 2023 at the age of 70 years old due to a heart attack.
Born in Los Angeles, CA on February 10, 1953 to Howard Rasmus Roos and Jane Linnea (Olson) Roos of Minneapolis, MN.
Brian grew up in Villa Park, CA and graduated from Villa Park High School and after attending college began working in the security industry in Orange County, CA. He worked as Vice President for Comseco of CA for 3 years and then transitioned into the new market of security software design and development. It was in the computer software industry in Irvine, CA where he met Jennifer Keefe, who would become his life partner for the rest of his life.
Jennifer and Brian made the move from California to Hayden Lake, ID in 1992 where they made a home with his two children, Jennifer and Ryan. It was at that time he established his own security software company, Briar Company.
Brian loved the outdoors, the four seasons, bowhunting, camping and back-packing. He considered himself, as did anyone who tasted his cooking, a gourmet chef. He loved to cook and to experiment with new recipes and cooking techniques. He was also a master gardener with his home in Coeur d'Alene being featured in the Coeur d'Alene Garden Tour.
He belonged to the Rocky Mountain Elk Foundation, and gave generously to Companions Animal Center (formerly Kootenai Humane Society). He was always available for any volunteer project that Jennifer volunteered him for.
Brian was preceded in death by his parents and his son, Ryan. He is survived by his spouse of 37 years, Jennifer Keefe of Coeur d'Alene; his daughter, Jennifer Roos of New Mexico; his brother, Mark (Cathy) Roos of San Carlos, CA; several grandchildren and his beloved Labrador Retriever, Maya.
A celebration of life for Brian will be held at a later date in 2024. In lieu of flowers, please feel welcome to make donations to Companions Animal Center (formerly Kootenai Humane Society).
