Kimberly Ann Rhoades, 56, of Elkton, MD, died January 30, 2017 in Laurelwood Care Center, Elkton, MD.
Kim was born on Sept. 16, 1960 in Elkton, daughter of the late H. Richard and Theresa Pierce Rhoades. She was raised in Kent County where she was a 1978 graduate of Kent County High School. She loved to travel and lived in Virginia, California, and New Orleans, returning to Maryland in 2004. She had worked for area restaurants managing and cooking including the Sassafras House, Kitty Knight House, Great Oak Landing Restaurant, and Vonnie's Restaurant. She had also been the culinary manager of Notre Dame of Maryland University in Towson, MD. Kim loved crafts and had a great passion for making family wreaths, baking and cooking.
She is survived by her son, A. Cole Shehane (Tiffany) of Galena; four sisters: Crystal Jester of Newark, DE; Kay Hill (Gary) of Elkton; Tina Rhoades of Smyrna, DE; Hilary Alexander (Joe) of Warwick; her aunt and uncle, Beverly and Phil Pierce; nephews: Rich Jester (Katie) and Robbie Jester; nieces: Christina Dominick (Tony); Maddi Smith (Joseph); Tessa Smith; Jordon and Jodi Alexander; great-nephew, Ryan Dominick; and great-niece, Jenna Dominick.
A viewing will be held on Friday, February 3, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. in the Galena Funeral Home of Stephen L. Schaech, 118 W. Cross St., Galena, MD, where funeral service will begin at 1 p.m. Burial in Galena Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers and gifts, the family is asking for donations in Kim's honor to Laurelwood Care Center Activity Fund, 100 Laurel Dr., Elkton, MD 21921.
