Emma Jean Martin

On December 22, 2015, the Lord decided to call his angel, Emma Jean Mitchell Martin, home to rest at the age of 64. She was loved by many and cherished by all. Emma fought a long battle with cancer, but never complained or wanted to show pain nor suffering.
Emma was the daughter of Emma Mae Johnson and the Late Eugene G. Mitchell.
She worked as a CNA for over 30 years and private sitting work for many families. She owned her own catering business called Emma's Home Cooked Catering for over 15 years. Emma was a loving and caring woman who took in anyone and helped everyone.
She was a member of the Galilee Baptist Church, Kents Store, Virginia. She started under the leadership of the Rev. Otis Spellman, now the Elder Ruben Lewis Jr. and served on the Deaconess Board. She attended Mt. Carmel Baptist Church and served as First Lady where her loving husband has pastored for 10 years. She was a faithful worker in the church and she loved the Lord.
Emma was a devoted wife and mother to her husband and children. She leaves behind to cherish her memory, her husband of 46 years, Rev. Lloyd O. Martin Sr.; two daughters, Kimberly A. Tyler of Richmond, Virginia and Janika N. Jones of Louisa, Virginia; one son, Lloyd O. Martin Jr. (Tomeka) of Richmond, Virginia; one stepson, Gerald Bland of Washington DC; 12 grandchildren, DeAndra (Eric) Simon of Roanoke, Virginia, Shawn Collins of Roanoke, Virginia, Isaiah Brown of Louisa, Virginia, Aaron Harris of Nelson County, Virginia, Lyric and Landon Reid of Fluvanna County, Virginia, Mia Martin of Louisa, Virginia, Diamond and Andre Booker of Richmond, Virginia, Deon and Quan Bland of Waynesboro, Virginia and Marcelus Bland of Washington DC; five great-grandchildren; three sisters, June Bridgeforth of Charlottesville, Virginia, Patricia Jackson of Roanoke, Virginia and Annette (Russell) Bolden of Charlottesville, Virginia; two brothers, Cass Mitchell of Atlanta, Georgia, Scott (Maria) Mitchell of Albequerque, New Mexico; one goddaughter, Lakeya Kiki Scott-Grooms of Waynesboro, Virginia; and a host of nieces and nephews.
Funeral services were held at noon on Monday, December 28, 2015 at Galilee Baptist Church, Kents Store. Interment followed in the Martin-Payne Cemetery in Fluvanna County.
