Carlton Myrick Obituary

Carlton Reynolds Myrick, 30, passed away November 18, 2017.

Since his birth on June 19, 1987, Reynolds gracefully and courageously dealt with significant physical health issues. While his strength in meeting these challenges was unwavering, he maintained a selfless focus on others, never wanting the spotlight to be on himself.

Reynolds' priorities were always his family, his friends, and those he came across along his adventures. He never met a stranger, and not only could he make anyone feel comfortable, he knew how to make anyone feel like family.

He would drop anything to lend a hand or have a healthy debate on the merits of open-source software. From a young age, Reynolds had a strong passion for all things tech. He built his own computer at the ripe age of 12, and his knack for computers only evolved from there. Professionally, he found the perfect fit working in cyber security.

Whether navigating the back roads of Japan or the back woods of the Rockies, he lived for a good adventure. He travelled across the country with his love for his favorite band Phish. And when he wasn't Phishing with friends, Reynolds deeply enjoyed the outdoors. Whether skiing black diamonds in Colorado, camping on the family farm, or slicing drives on the golf courses of Kiawah Island... he did it all.

He was the relentless, lone Wolfpack in a family of Tar Heels. His pride for his alma mater made every game day one to remember.

He loved and protected his blended family, and always made them his highest priority.

There will be a private memorial service for family members at Myers Park United Methodist Church. The family suggests memorial contributions be sent to The Appalachian Trail Conservancy, 799 Washington St. / PO Box 807, Harpers Ferry, WV 25425.

His father, Tom Myrick and wife Lynn, his mother, Sylvia Warren and husband Dan, his brother Ryan Myrick, and his step siblings Blair and Mary Blake Warren, and Rachael and Zachary Wondracek, along with grandparents Ray and Doris Myrick (in spirit), Clarence (in spirit) and Mildred Betzen, and Gene (in spirit) and Louise Warren, and Doug and Jackie Redfern invite friends and family to a casual Celebration of Life on Saturday, November 25, 2017 at The Olde Mecklenburg Brewery from 2:30pm - 4:30pm EST.

Arrangements are in the care of Kenneth Poe Funeral & Cremation Service, 1321 Berkeley Ave., Charlotte, NC 28204; (704) 641-7606. Online condolences can be shared at www.kennethpoeservices.com.

Sylvia and Dano, Joseph and I are so very sorry for the loss of Reynolds. He worked in the same dept at Bank of America that I worked in for 20 years which I did not realize. Thinking of your entire family.

We have such wonderful memories of Reynolds as a child growing up. He and our son were close friends and neighbors through the growing up years. The boys always had some sort of project that they were hard at work on---from building a zipline and forts and a half pipe in the woods to constructing a motocross trail complete with obstacles. And then I watched in amazement when as a young teenager, Reynolds would buy 3 inch thick textbooks to teach himself software and build his own computer. Reynolds was such a maverick and a free sprit. What a loss. Our sincere sympathies to his family. He will be truly missed.

Such shocking news and still so hard to believe. Sympathies to all Reynolds' family and friends. In my experience he was universally loved and respected, a great colleague and a fine young man. I only wish I'd known him longer. Rest in peace always, sir.

I worked with Reynolds at the Bank and he was always willing to lend a hand to anyone who needed it. His humor, and laughter is something I will always remember as comedic relief in a high stress cyber security world. I will definitely miss him. Rest in peace my friend.

One of the first SMEs added to my first Bank project it did not take long to see what he offered the Bank. Reynolds attended every meeting, never had to be asked to step-up as he volunteered in numerous areas. We always chatted college football before the start of meetings and we "constructively differed" when telling him I like the New England Patriots. Reynolds met with me Friday before reaching to the Heavens and asked, "...Is there anything else I can do to assist..."? We miss you Reynolds and I pray for his family and friends.

I'm glad that I had the honor to see Reynolds grow from a college student into a great man. That seemed to love life, family and his job. Every time he walked into a room he would always make it a point to go around and speak to everyone. It was always a pleasure to get to sit and talk with him one on one. His smile would always light up the room. He will be truly missed but never forgotten. Loved him like family.

My time spent with Reynolds as part of his visit to Japan was short, but almost immediately his impressive spirit, kindness, smile, and incredible passion for people, culture, and friendship were evident. It is with these memories that I will remember and celebrate his life. To all of his family, please accept my deepest condolences and prayers.

I personally met him for the first time in my last trip to Charlotte and after that we were working together on different projects. He had a great personality and was very considerate, understanding and very easy going. I am saddened to lose such a great coworker. My condolences to the family, friends and coworkers.

I've worked with Reynolds for some time now at the Bank and this news hit me like a ton of bricks this morning. He never had a bad thing to say about anyone, Iv'e never heard him complain about problems at work, and he actively sought to help people even if it wasn't in his area of responsibility. The Bank and the world at large is now lesser without him
