Charles Merryman Obituary

Charles B. Merryman, Jr.
Mr. Merryman, of Huntersville, died January 29, 2005.
Mr. Merryman was born in Washington, DC to Charles B. Merryman, Sr. and Jettie Shaver Merryman on July 22, 1938. He moved to Bethesda, MD shortly after birth and graduated from Bethesda Chevy Chase High School in 1956. Mr. Merryman received his undergraduate degree from Wake Forest University in 1960, and graduated with a Law Degree in 1962. Upon graduation, he was commissioned as a 2nd Lieutenant in the U.S. Army and served in Straubing, Germany for 2 years. He moved to Charlotte and started his own practice in 1965. He became a partner in several successful Law Firms. Mr. Merryman moved his practice to Cornelius in 1993 and established Merryman and DeArmon Attorneys.
He was very active in the North Mecklenburg Community, serving on the board of the Lake Norman YMCA, the board of 'Our Towns' Habitat for Humanity. He served as Chairman of the Trustees for the Huntersville United Methodist Church, was the Administrative Council Chairman for several years, and served on several other committees and advisory boards within the church. Charles will be greatly missed by his family and friends.
He is survived by his loving friend, Cathy Marshall; son, Bill Merryman and wife, Angela; son, Bruce Merryman; daughter, Nancy Godwin and husband, Marty; daughter, Paula White and husband, Tom; son, Michael Merryman and former wife, Diane Merryman; brother, Eugene Merryman and wife, Martha; and eight grandchildren, Grayson, Colby and Cooper Godwin, Luke, Brennan, Patrick and Caroline Leigh White, and Abigail Merryman.
Visitation will be from 6 PM to 9 PM Tuesday, February 1, at Raymer Funeral Home. The memorial services will be held at 11:00 AM Wednesday, February 2, at Huntersville United Methodist Church with the Reverend Bill Rintz officiating.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Huntersville United Methodist Church 'Room at the Inn', North Mecklenburg Habitat for Humanity, and the American Cancer Society.
Arrangements are by Raymer Funeral Home, 16901 Old Statesville Road, Huntersville 28078.
